The new Renault Koleos has been awarded a 5 Star Euro NCAP rating. In case any of you were wondering why it has taken so long for this announcement to come out it is because this new Koleos has only just been launched over in Europe. We got this car much earlier, September 2016 to be precise. Somehow Renault launched it much earlier here and this is a pretty good feeling to have as this is one of the rare occasions where we get a car before those in Europe do.
From the looks of it the Malaysian specced, and fully imported Koleos only lacks some active safety systems like the AEB (Active/Autonomous Braking System - brakes automatically come on when impact is predicted) and the Lane Keeping System (which usually is that haptic and slightly self steering system which keeps the vehicle in between the lines - does not usually work in our country due to the lack of clear lines sometimes). We still get every other system (ABS, EBD, blind spot warning system and a lot of airbags) which is in the spec sheet of the Koleos tested by Euro NCAP. This is a good thing as the NCAP tests are upon a vehicle's crash, the systems omitted are usually pre-crash safety stuff - Good to help avoid crashed but not during a crash.
So anyway, 5 stars to the Koleos. A nice premium looking SUV from Renault.
