Quick Ride partners Uber and Proton to provide cars for ride sharing to Malaysians - Targeted to those that are currently unemployed

Quick Ride Sdn Bhd has partnered with ride sharing company Uber and national car manufacturer Proton in providing car sharing/riding solutions through its daily leasing plan and In-Car-Advertising. Leveraging modern technology, Quick Ride Sdn Bhd will be offering a WIFI enabled environment, Interactive Media and Geo Tracking system in all the Proton cars that they will offer to interested Malaysians to want to try out being Uber drivers.

Quick Ride will be providing Proton Saga and Persona which will be equipped with the technology mentioned above for leasing. They will manage the maintenance (with the exception of wear and tear items like brake pads and tyres), the Road Tax and Car Insurance. This will leave the drivers with a free mind to try and focus on driving / earning.

Quick Ride is a joint venture between Koperasi Amanah Pelaburan Berhad (KAPB) and Cartrade Group who have been in the Malaysian automotive industry for over three decades. Through this new partnership with Uber and its collaboration with Proton, it will offer Malaysians a deal with the objective to earn a steady income on the Uber platform via Quick Ride. KAPB states that this would try create new income opportunities among the unemployed Malaysians.

This scheme is targeted at eligible citizens who are jobless and have recently been unemployed under any circumstances. Those who meet the mandatory requirements and are passionate to form a source of rather substantial income will be able to lease either a brand new Proton Saga or brand new Proton Persona  on a daily basis.

If one is eligible for the scheme, one must pay a deposit of RM1,000, collect the car and be prepared to earn over RM45 per day (for the Saga) to cover the leasing costs. According to Quick Ride, a minimum of 30hours per week of Uber driving should be able to cover the costs. The cars would be changed every three years under this arrangement too. Do head over to www.quickride.my for more details. But do note that there is a lock in period (which should be about the three year lease period and the reason for the deposit) that one must consider.

Now if you are an advertiser and wish to advertise on the space provided on the tablet screens provided in the cars you can also head over to the website above. This is also how Quick Ride intends to cover its costs aside from the daily amount collected from the lease arrangements. They still need to make some profit you know.

Quick Ride also plans to have 1,000 units of Protons taken up under this scheme. They have targeted a total of 10,000 cars that would be taken up in the next two years.

At this moment in time this seems like a good opportunity for those that need to find a job. Of course, it could also be an opportunity for one to just lease a car with less hassles than usual. RM45 per day equates to about RM1,350 monthly, which is actually close to what a three year lease would cost you. Note that maintenance is managed by the providing company. All you have to do is service the required amount monthly. Of course, one should take the opportunity to actually earn some money and get to drive new people around. In a new Proton Saga 1.3 or a Persona 1.6 every three years as long as Quick Ride exists. Quite a good deal eh?
