Okay folks, Volkswagen is now accepting early bookings for the all-new, soon to be launched, locally assembled EEV (Energy Efficient Vehicle) tax break category, Volkswagen Tiguan. What this means is that Volkswagen's Tiguan will be priced closer to its size rivals like the Honda CRV and Mazda CX-5. There will be two variants - the Comfortline and the Highline and it will be priced between RM149,000 to RM169,000.
This second generation Tiguan was unveiled in 2016. The Tiguan Mk2 and its group sister, the Audi Q3 Mk2 are built on the Volkswagen Group MQB platform. It, like the B8 Passat which was recently launched here has a more blunt and buff look to it. Unlike the more rounded and curvy older model this Mk2 Tiggy (as I sometimes like to call it) is more butch looking. The older one was more feminine in my opinion. This one also looks like a larger, slightly taller Golf from the rear three quarter angle too.
The Malaysian specced variants will feature a 1.4liter TSi turbocharged engine (which you've seen in the latest Jetta and Golf). 150PS and 250Nm makes it one of the best in class in terms of performance. According to the official release, it will come with a 6 speed WET CLUTCH DSG gearbox. A-hah!!!! This is something which I do like in any Volkswagen when it comes to its dual clutch transmissions. Their wet clutch set up offers better performance and better reliability in the long run as the wet clutch can actually handle more power as it is cooled internally by fluids, hence better heat transfer away from the critical parts. In simple English, we are getting a Tiguan which is more suited for our driving climate and our drivers.
The all-new locally assembled in Pekan, Pahang, Tiguan will come with equipment Volkswagen’s other premium models (eg Passat), such as the Active Info Display, 8-inch Discover Media infotainment system, and 3-zone Climatatronic. Five colours will be available – Pure White, Deep Black, Atlantic Blue, Tungsten Silver and Indium Grey. A lot of spec for the money.

Kuala Lumpur, 1 March 2017 – Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) is now accepting pre-bookings for the all-new Volkswagen Tiguan. The locally-assembled all-new Tiguan is expected to be priced between RM149,000 and RM169,000 when it launches in a few weeks. As an added bonus for interested buyers, VPCM is offering a limited early-bird special of RM7,000 off the all-new Tiguan.
