Naza Kia Malaysia Set to Launch All New Grand Carnival before the end of the 1st quarter, 2017

Naza Kia Malaysia, who are the authorised distributors of Kia here has just announced that they will launch the all-new Kia Carnival MPV before the end of March 2017. According to the company, the Carnival will be the vehicle pushing up the sales of Kia Malaysia for the year. They forecast an increase of up to 25% for this year. Quite high hopes on this MPV by the looks of it.

But having seen it on display at its first preview at a recent motorshow, as well as spotting it at the Naza Kia showroom in Taman Tun Dr Ismail in KL, the all-new Carnival is more luxurious than before. It is better equipped inside and out. Interior looks classy and a bit more premium than before. It also comes with Kia's strong and economical 2.2 liter turbodiesel engine for added performance and robustness.

Unlike the previous Kia Carnival which we received many years ago (badged as a Naza Ria), this new one, which is actually two generations from the model that was sold here, has a 2.2 Litre CRDi variable geometry turbo-charged diesel engine provides 190 horsepower with 440 Nm of torque. This makes this new MPV a powerful and economical people mover.

The Ria/Carnival in those days had a normally aspirated 2.5liter V6 petrol engine which was coupled to a 4 speed automatic. It was not an economical MPV to drive and had some teething issues. With the new 6 speed automatic coupled to the very torquey engine, this new Carnival could easily lug 8 people and a lot of luggage. Provided you can fit a lot luggage and 8 people at the same time that is.

Basically, the launch of this new Carnival couldn't come at a better time for Naza Kia Malaysia. With this, it basically plugs another gap in the Kia range of cars here. Some may want the convenience of a premium equipped 7 (or 8) seater MPV rather than a 7 seater SUV like the Sorento or some other competitors.

All that they need to do is ensure that the price is competitive for now.
