Volvo Car Malaysia introduces refreshed Volvo XC90 SUV - Improving On Something Which Is Already So Good

Volvo Car Malaysia has announced that the refreshed 2019 onwards Volvo XC90 full-sized SUV is now available in Malaysia for viewing at all Volvo showrooms. The Volvo XC90 is the Swedish carmaker's top-of-the-line flagship, that marks the company's foray into an electrification strategy. The refreshed XC90 features subtle upgrades to the exterior for the T5 variant, additional performance for the T8 and some with more equipment inside.

The refreshed XC90's exterior now feature new wheels, exterior colours and a modern new grille. The now famous Thor's hammer headlights are unchanged. As stated, this is not a facelift, but a mere refresh. This SUV is still one of the nicer looking SUVs out there and still looks extremely fresh inside and out.

The award winning interior remains the same essentially with a little more equipment inside depending on the variant. But Volvo has stated that the Orrefors crystal electronic gearshift lever has been redesigned.

For the T8 plug-in hybrid models, the battery capacity has been improved from 10.4kW to 11.6kWh. The improved range is now up to 50km from about 40km.

The T5 model sees the most changes inside with more equipment that before. This includes the inclusion of third-row air conditioning with c-pillar vents, road sign information system (RSI) as well as 4-zone electronic climate control with cooled glove box which previously was only available for the T8 model.

As for active safety technology, the refreshed XC90 now offers drivers help with steering on both the City Safety and the Blind Spot Information System. City Safety with Autobrake is still the only system on the market to recognise pedestrians, cyclists and large animals. The Oncoming Lane Mitigation system first introduced on the XC60 is now available on XC90, while the Cross Traffic Alert technology is now equipped with autobrake. Baiscally the new XC90 features the latest in software developments for the SUV.

Inside, Volvo has also fully updated the Sensus infotainment system which is compatible with both Apple Carplay and Android Auto as well as being integrated with the Spotify Music streaming service. The Bowers & Wilkins sound system should be as sweet sounding as ever, especially in the T8. This could be the best sounding audio system in any car in our opinion.

The refreshed Volvo XC90 will be priced starting from RM 373,888 (on-the-road, without insurance, inclusive of excise duty and sales tax).Colour options include Crystal White Pearl, Denim Blue Metallic, Onyx Black Metallic, Pebble Grey Metallic, and Thunder Grey Metallic.
