Second Generation Porsche Macan To Be Unveiled in Malaysia on 21st June 2019

Sime Darby Auto Performance, the folks who are the authorised distributor of Porsche cars here in Malaysia have announced that the second generation Porsche Macan will be unveiled in Malaysia on 21st June 2019 at the Porsche Centre Sungai Besi. The new 2019 Macan with Premium Package is now available for booking at all Porsche Centres with the price starting from RM 455,000 (after tax but before road tax, registration fee and insurance), inclusive of a four-year warranty, and free maintenance package including parts and labour.

The new second generation Macan will sure stir up some talk among the local Porsche community as it does bring in something fresh and in relative terms, a new, compact and relatively affordable Porsche to look forward to. This is especially so since SUVs like the Macan and Cayenne  have brought in many who never looked at owning a Porsche.

From what we have heard, the new Premium Package offers enhanced specifications when compared to the standard options, which is actually already quite nice. The package offers additional equipment and bits. Most notable are the 14-way power seats including memory function for both driver and front passenger, comfort lighting package, Power Steering Plus, Park Assist including reversing camera, automatic dimming mirrors, and BOSE Surround Sound System.

All of the equipment mentioned above fills out this new Macan. This compact SUV is powered by a 2.0liter turbocharged engine which makes 252hp and 370Nm torque. It is all-wheel drive and the power is transmitted to the tyres via Porsche's PDK 7 speed gearbox. 0-100kmh is in 6.7seconds and it will reach a top speed of 225kmh. Good for a 2.0liter turbocharged SUV.

Personally, it isn't about straight road speeds. A Porsche is about how it rides and handles. Much more than most other companies out there as somehow, this brand has got it extremely right when it comes to ride and handling. Even for their SUVs. This new Macan is unique with its staggered wheel setup (wider at the rear) and all-wheel drive handling. It features Porsche Traction Management (PTM) system which in its latest form should make this Macan drive well.

So those interested in the new Macan, you can head to the nearest Porsche showroom - there is one in Glenmarie and in Penang aside from the one in Sg Besi.

Aside from that, Sime Darby Auto Performance have also launched their new dealer website-  https://dealer.porsche.com/malaysia.

This new dealer website allows customers to acquire further information on new and pre-owned cars, personalising their dream Porsche, and plan for their new Porsche purchase using the financial calculator tools. For an even greater convenience, test drive and service appointment can be scheduled through the new dealer website.

The Second Generation Porsche Macan Product Brief:

With the Porsche Macan having received a full makeover, prominent new features in terms of design, comfort, connectivity and driving dynamics include the three-dimensional LED light panel at the rear and the new fully interconnected Porsche communication management system with 10.9-inch touchscreen inside the vehicle.

Powertrain and Drivetrain
The new Macan comes with an efficient 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with improved combustion chamber geometry. It delivers a performance of 185 kW (252 hp) and has a maximum torque of 370 Nm. In combination with its seven-gear PDK dual-clutch gearbox, the compact all-wheel drive SUV can go from zero to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 225 km/h.

The fuel consumption of the 2019 Macan is a combined 8.1 l/100 km and the new Macan's CO2 emissions is 185 g/km combined.

Newly tuned chassis for enhanced balance
The vehicle dynamics of the Macan remain its core feature. The overhauled chassis increases comfort and makes the Macan even more enjoyable to drive. As is typical for a sports car, it comes with mixed-size tyres, enabling the driver to take full advantage of the benefits of the intelligent all-wheel drive Porsche Traction Management (PTM) system and adopt a dynamic driving style. Newly developed tyres with improved performance characteristics allow for even better lateral dynamics. The wheel diameters range from 18 inches as standard to an optional 21 inches.

A more streamlined design with full LED lights and new colours
In keeping with Porsche’s design DNA, the new Macan features a three-dimensional LED light panel on the rear of the vehicle. The brake lights with their four-point design are another excellent embodiment of the brand’s identity. LED technology is incorporated as standard into the newly designed main headlights, while the Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus (PDLS Plus) option can be used to control light distribution adaptively. The Macan front end has been thoroughly redesigned and now appears wider. Drivers now have more scope to express their personality thanks to the addition of four new exterior colours – Mamba Green Metallic, Dolomite Silver Metallic, Miami Blue and Crayon.

Fully interconnected: the new Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system
The Macan offers a range of digital possibilities through the use of the new Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system. The full-HD touchscreen is now 10.9 inches in width (previously 7.2 inches). As in the Panamera and Cayenne, the user interface can be adapted to suit personal requirements via predefined tiles. Fully interconnected as standard, the new system features mobile phone preparation, two audio interfaces and intelligent voice control.

New options: GT sports steering wheel, air ioniser and traffic assistant
An expanded range of options with enhanced assist systems is available to choose from with the new Macan. The optional GT sports steering wheel echoes the style of the Porsche 911. A mode switch integrated into the steering wheel – including sport response button – is part of the optional sport chrono package that can be fitted in the Macan. Porsche has extended the list of options designed to enhance convenience, which now includes a heated windshield and an air ioniser that – together with the fine particulate air filter (fitted as standard) – improves the quality of the air inside the vehicle.
