The 2019 Porsche Macan is Now Officially in Malaysia - Prices Start at RM455,000

I was lucky to have attended the Malaysian launch of the all-new, second generation Porsche Macan on the 21st June 2019 at Porsche Centre Sungai Besi. The Macan is Porsche's compact SUV / crossover vehicle and it has been a top seller almost everywhere since it was launched back in 2014. This is likely because it is the most affordable, practical Porsche on sale today and that it is actually easier for the men to fork out the dosh for one as their other half, would likely agree as they can drive it also...if compared to a 911 GT3 RS. So it was no shock to me that it was announced that the car already had very high demand from customers.

The 2019 model year Macan which you see here was launched in July 2018. It went into production in August 2018 as a 2019 Model year. This second generation model may look similar to the outgoing one. But it does look better overall in terms of styling. There is a more cohesive look to it and I do think the rear is a successful revamp as it makes the Macan have a wider look rather than just a bulbous one - most likely due to the single uninterrupted strip of red from left to right on the rear. The previous one had a rear which looked a little too rounded. This new styling cue has made the Macan look more muscular yet lean at the same time.

Notable improvements made by Porsche on the Macan includes an overhauled chassis, a gasoline particulate filter fitted as standard, a new front and rear fascia with LED head- and tail-lights as standard, new exterior colours and wheel designs, and a redesigned interior with Porsche Communication Management with 10.9-inch touchscreen display and Connect Plus with Porsche Offroad Precision App as standard. Optionally available systems include active suspension management, air suspension, torque vectoring, Sport Chrono package including Launch Control as well as park and traffic assistance systems

The new Macan is offered with a  Premium Package here. The extra bits offers enhanced specifications over and above standard options. These include 14-way power seats including memory function for both driver and front passenger, comfort lighting package, Power Steering Plus, Park Assist including reversing camera, automatic dimming mirrors, and BOSE Surround Sound System to improve the drive experience further.

Sime Darby Auto Performance, the authorised distributors of Porsche in Malaysia has announced that more appearances for the new Macan are scheduled at Porsche Centre Penang (28th – 30th June 2019) and the Macan roadshow at Publika Shopping Gallery in Kuala Lumpur (5th – 7th July 2019).

The new Macan price starts from RM 455,000, which includes all applicable duties, except registration fee, road tax and insurance. The price is inclusive of a four-year warranty and free maintenance package, including parts and labour for a better peace of mind ownership.

Aside from that, Sime Darby Auto Performance (SDAP)  have also stated that the new dealer websites are available for each Porsche Centre. They also feature the 360 Financing calculator tool to offer more in-depth information on the financing package through the calculator tool simulation. SDAP announced the attractive monthly repayments from RM5,700 for the new Macan through 360 Financing.

The new Macan comes with an efficient 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with improved combustion chamber geometry. It delivers a performance of 185 kW (252 hp) and has a maximum torque of 370 Nm. In combination with its seven-gear PDK dual-clutch gearbox, the compact SUV can go from zero to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 225 km/h. Its consumption rate is 8.1 l/100 km.

With the model having received a full makeover, the most prominent new features in terms of design, comfort, connectivity and driving dynamics include the three-dimensional LED light panel at the rear and the new fully interconnected Porsche communication management system with 10.9-inch touchscreen inside the vehicle.

Newly tuned chassis for enhanced balance The vehicle dynamics of the Macan remain its core feature. The overhauled chassis increases comfort and makes the Macan even more enjoyable to drive. As is typical for a sports car, it comes with mixed-size tyres, enabling the driver to take full advantage of the benefits of the intelligent all-wheel drive Porsche Traction Management (PTM) system and adopt a dynamic driving style. Newly developed tyres with improved performance characteristics allow for even better lateral dynamics. The wheel diameters range from 18 inches as standard to an optional 21 inches.

A more streamlined design with full LED lights and new colours In keeping with Porsche’s design DNA, the new Macan features a three-dimensional LED light panel on the rear of the vehicle. The brake lights with their four-point design are another excellent embodiment of the brand’s identity. LED technology is incorporated as standard into the newly designed main headlights, while the Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus (PDLS Plus) option can be used to control light distribution adaptively. The Macan front end has been thoroughly redesigned and now appears wider. Drivers now have more scope to express their personality thanks to the addition of four new exterior colours – Mamba Green Metallic, Dolomite Silver Metallic, Miami Blue and Crayon.

Fully interconnected: the new Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system The Macan offers a range of digital possibilities through the use of the new Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system. The full-HD touchscreen is now 10.9 inches in width (previously 7.2 inches). As in the Panamera and Cayenne, the user interface can be adapted to suit personal requirements via predefined tiles. Fully interconnected as standard, the new system features mobile phone preparation, two audio interfaces and intelligent voice control.

New options: GT sports steering wheel, air ioniser and traffic assistant An expanded range of options with enhanced assist systems is available to choose from with the new Macan. The optional GT sports steering wheel echoes the style of the Porsche 911. A mode switch integrated into the steering wheel – including sport response button – is part of the optional sport chrono package that can be fitted in the Macan. Porsche has extended the list of options designed to enhance convenience, which now includes a heated windshield and an air ioniser that – together with the fine particulate air filter (fitted as standard) – improves the quality of the air inside the vehicle.
