The all-new 2016 Ford S-MAX has been launched in Malaysia. Ford and local distributor has officially launched the all-new S-MAX MPV. It will be priced at RM234,988.00 on the road without insurance.
It is powered by the 2.0liter EcoBoost 4 cylinder petrol engine with 240hp and a 6 speed automatic. The same one you get in the Mondeo. It's going to be a sweet people carrier to drive with that much power on tap. And being a Ford, its going to handle well too. Up to a point of course. It IS an MPV in the first place. And that being said, the SMAX has a lot, really a lot of safety features and other equipment.
A bit on the higher side in terms of price, but you do get what you're paying for, a very fast, well equipped MPV. Oh, some of you may ask. The rear doors are not sliding based type but as I said, equipment levels are high. Boot space with the 7 seats up are 285liters, 965 with the rear seats folded and a close to Ford Transit sized 2,020liters. No, I don't think anything is close to the Transit actually. Just a comparison to those that value space over everything.
But ignore all of that. This could be the fastest, best handling MPV ever sold in Malaysia. This is more important that everything else.

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, Mar. 2, 2016 – Ford and its local distributor Sime Darby Auto
Connexion, today officially launched the versatile all-new S-MAX MPV in Malaysia.
Packed with smart technologies and equipped with seven airbags, S-MAX is designed for
ultimate family convenience, and is the most powerful MPV in its class, thanks to a new fuel-
efficient 2.0L EcoBoost engine that delivers an impressive 240 PS.
Priced at RM234,988.00 on the road without insurance in Peninsular Malaysia and
RM238,288.00 in East Malaysia, the all-new S-MAX is available in three elegant colours:
Frozen White, Moondust Silver and Magnetic Grey.
“S-MAX resonates with families who need extra space and practicality and who appreciate

Whether during a family getaway to Cameron Highlands or a weekday school run with the
kids, S-MAX enables up to seven people to travel in comfort – with Easy-Fold second and
third row seats that help to provide a remarkable 32 seating and load-space combinations.
The system allows each rear seat to be folded flat from a push-button control panel, while
the second-row and third-row seats can be folded flat at the touch of a button making instant
room for sports gear or bulky DIY purchases.
A comprehensive safety package offers drivers extra peace of mind, including seven
airbags, complemented by Ford’s Electronic Stability Control (ESC), ABS and other safety
technologies, as well as ISOFIX child safety mounts. The S-MAX was also recently awarded
the maximum 5-star safety rating by the Euro NCAP independent crash test authority.
Complementing this is a range of smart technologies including Ford’s SYNC 2 voice-
activated connectivity system that helps keep the driver’s eyes on the road and hands on the
wheel. The advanced system features a high-resolution, 8-inch colour touch screen and
voice control for hands-free operation of audio, temperature control and connected mobile
phone functions.
“With its multitude of seating combinations, flexible space and convenient features, the all-
new S-MAX is the ideal multi-purpose vehicle for Malaysian families,” said Syed Ahmad

The S-MAX is the only MPV in its class to offer heated and cooled, 8-way powered massage
seats as standard. With Ford Multi-Contour Seats, which include an Active Motion massage
function, the S-MAX can reduce fatigue, aches and pains for both the driver and front
passenger by keeping muscles and blood vessels stimulated with the unique wave motion
delivered by inflatable cushions within the seats.
The advanced system monitors pressure in the individual cushions to feel like a single roller
subtly stretching the back, and two intensity settings can be selected from the central
touchscreen.
The S-MAX uses camera, radar, and ultrasonic devices that deliver remarkable driving
technologies to help drive and control the vehicle safely, including:
Adaptive LED headlamp and Glare-Free Highbeam Technology – adjusts the headlight
beam angle and intensity
Lane Keeping Alert and Aid – alerts the driver of unintended lane changes and actively
steers the car back into place
Driver Alert – monitors driving behaviour for signs of inattentive driving and alerts the
driver to take a rest
Curve Control and Roll Stability Control systems – which enhance vehicle stability by
adjusting engine torque and braking to help drivers maintain control
