Here we have something that has been advertised as a track car. Here in Malaysia if a car is stated as a 'track car' it usually means that the car is one of those hatchbacks, coupes or sedans that have been specially done up to go for racing at either Sepang or the Pasir Gudang circuits. When so advertised, they are usually not street legal and is made up of cars that have been deregistered due to heavy mods or cars from neighbouring countries that are declared as scrap but kept in one piece.
But never have I seen anyone advertise a Toyota Wish MPV as a 'Track Car'. I mean seriously. If you want to flog this most probably neighbouring country 'scrapped' car as a parts or donor car, then one should say just that instead of a track car. I mean, a Toyota Wish as the ultimate track day weapon? Throw in tons of money and it would still be slower around the bends even against a modified Toyota Celica.
I have never heard anyone who are serious track day 'kaki' say "hmmm, I think the Toyota Wish would be the perfect car to take to the track. It can seat seven of us whilst we take the corner at a million miles per hour."
"Yes, the Toyota Wish on Advan Neovas will be grippy. Put 35psi up front and 32psi for the rear and it will be able to outcorner a Lotus anytime!"
"That 1.8liter engine is so tunable. I can make 50bhp easily and drive rings round that Toyota Supra."
"The Wish will do 2min 30secs at Sepang!!!!"
No. No. No. So obviously no.
This sort of ads really make me think about the level seriousness of the person trying to sell the car.
