The folks who use Perdana Express buses will be riding in some brand new Scania express buses after this. Perdana Express has received 31 new Scania buses to bolster its services between the East Coast to the Central Region of Peninsular Malaysia. The bus company and Scania Malaysia held a handover ceremony as well as a service and maintenance agreement signing at the Terminal Bersepadu Selatan, Bandar Tasik Selatan in Kuala Lumpur.
At the ceremony, the first batch of the new Scania K410 Express buses were handed over to Perdana Express by the Managing Director of Scania Southeast Asia, Marie Sjödin Enström to the Chief Executive Officer of Perdana Express, Tuan Haji Laili Haji Ismail. The handover event was also attended by Malaysian bus spotter clubs Geng Bas Expres Malaysia (GBEM) and Malaysia Bus and Truck Enthusiasts Club (MTBE).
Tuan Haji Laili (photo above) had expressed his faith in Scania buses at the event, where he said, “Investing in a further 31 Scania buses is testimony of our trust and faith in the performance and reliability that Scania has given us for more than a decade when we started this business. No other brand can give us the fuel savings that we have been enjoying all these years.”
The Scania buses procured by Perdana Express are the Scania K410EB6X2 buses that are equipped with the Scania Opticruise transmission, full air suspension, electronic braking system (EBS), Scania Retarder, traction control system, a high torque engine, and fully adjustable steering wheel as well a hanging pedals. With these features, the new Scania buses are one of the safest (due to ABS, Retarder and TCS), comfortable (Air Suspension) and fuel-efficient (Opticruise gearbox and high torque engine) for both passengers and drivers during long distance travel while minimising impact to the environment.
Aside from the regular maintenance program, Perdana Express also signed up as a Scania Ecolution partner as part of the company’s sustainability efforts to reduce their CO2 emissions. Scania Ecolution focuses on reducing fuel consumption and operating cost, which translate to improved profitability while fulfilling the demand for environmentally-friendly initiatives. While not sounding as a big deal with most transporters here, it is good that there are those like Perdana Express who are paving the way forward by caring for the environment.
Further to that, Perdana Express also signed a Repair Maintenance contract for 12 of its buses as well as a Maintenance contract for 44 of its existing buses during the ceremony. The company believes in ensuring the best maintenance for their fleet for optimum uptime. It is definitely less hassle for the operator when the people selling the buses are the ones maintaining them.
Perdana Express is a major bus express company in Malaysia which first started operations in 2006. The company offers bus services to destinations across Peninsular Malaysia. Their service encompass the whole of the Peninsular and they currently own a total of 62 Scania buses in their fleet and has been a Scania customer since 2009.
Managing Director of Scania Southeast Asia, Marie Sjödin Enström said at the event, “Today’s handover and signing ceremony is a testament of Scania’s on-going drive towards sustainability with our far-reaching 2050 commitment in reducing the carbon footprint to net zero. By providing our customers with sustainable transport solutions, we can achieve mutually beneficial results of profitability for their business and reducing the environmental effects of our operations.”
