It's back. The Subaru Palm Challenge is back! This is the annual event where a bunch of people place their hands on a Subaru and whoever keeps it on the car the longest, will get a chance to enter the Asian finals in Singapore and go through the whole thing again and win a Subaru. This year, Motor Image Malaysia will start the Malaysian part of the challenge at Piazza, The Curve on the 22nd of July 2017.
It is stated that the event will see a total of 80 participants vying for the top 10 spots which will allow them to be eligible for the final at the MediaCorp Subaru Car Challenge 2017 in Singapore. The Asian Face-Off finals will be held on 28 – 31 October 2017 where they will face 390 other hopeful participants from across the region that includes Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. Up for grabs brand new Subaru XV 2.0i-P.
And whilst the event is carried out over the weekend, people who are at The Curve can also try out a Mini Palm Challenge offered by Subaru to win attractive prizes the on Sunday, 23rd July. It is an event and a roadshow for Subaru too.
Last year's winner was 38-year-old Sunawar Ali S/O Idris Ali from Singapore. The chap had his palm on a Subaru over an epic 75 hours and 58 minutes, facing the sun, heat and other elements. There was also a Coutry Team win award which went to the Philippines, whose participants achieved the longest combined total standing time of 490 hours and 42 minutes.

Contestants stand a chance to win a brand new Subaru XV 2.0i-P
PETALING JAYA, 20 July 2017 – Back for the 9 th year, Motor Image Malaysia – the exclusive distributor of Subaru vehicles in Malaysia – announced their annual event, Subaru Palm Challenge 2017 - Malaysia Face-Off to take place on Saturday, 22 July 2017 at Piazza, The Curve, Mutiara Damansara.
The event will see 80 participants battle it out for the top 10 spots to be eligible for the regional grand finale at the MediaCorp Subaru Car Challenge 2017 – The Asian Face-Off on 28 – 31 October 2017. This will be a test of mental and physical endurance for each participant as they have to keep their palm on a Subaru vehicle for the longest time possible with only a 5-minute break every 6 hours to grab a quick bite or visit the washroom.
As easy as that sounds, participants will have to partake in a series of tough challenges as part of the
elimination process. The challenges will be introduced to the participants at sporadic timings throughout the day to keep the participants on their toes at all time.
This year, for a fairer chance to all registered participants, they will be invited to draw lots to be eligible for the 80 spots. Meanwhile, shoppers at The Curve can also join the fun with the Mini Palm Challenge offered by Subaru to win attractive prizes the following day.

Last year’s winner, 38-year- old Sunawar Ali S/O Idris Ali from Singapore has clocked an impressive 75 hours and 58 minutes, despite the blazing heat on the final day, to bring home the Grand Prize. Philippines, whose participants achieved the longest combined standing time of 490 hours and 42 minutes, despite a disadvantage of having only nine regional participants, when one participant had to back out at the last minute, has been awarded the Country Team Winner title.
