TRUCKS: UD TRUCKS hands over 173 units of the UD Kroner and UD Kuzer to Alam Flora - More capacity and efficiency for public waste carrying

On 31 March 2026, UD Trucks Malaysia and sole distributor partner here, Tan Chong Industrial Equipment Sdn Bhd (TCIE), have handed over a total of 173 new trucks comprising the medium-duty UD Croner and light-duty UD Kuzer models to Alam Flora Sdn Bhd (Alam Flora), a concessionaire company appointed to provide solid waste collection and public cleansing services for the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and the state of Pahang. The new trucks procured were part of Alam Flora’s need to increase its solid waste collection and public cleansing capacity for more efficiency.

All-New JETOUR T2 SUV launched- Malaysia gets only one variant for now but the RM156,888 before insurance price is very competitive

 

Last Friday, I attended the official launch of the  JETOUR T2. Brought in by JETOUR Malaysia, this is a  mid-sized, or C segment SUV that Jetour say has practicality alongside genuine all-terrain performance. The 2026 JETOUR T2 SUV features a 2.0l turbocharged engine, intelligent all-wheel drive capability, advanced connectivity and comprehensive safety in a distinctive, boxy design that will make it look different from other SUVs in the Malaysian market in the RM150,000 to RM200,000 price range.. It also adds to the JETOUR range here as well as allowing customers even more SUV option in this segment. Fortunately, JETOUR only sells one option here, locally assembled at RM156,888 before any early bird promotions. A very good price considering what they are offering in terms of specification and equipment levels.

The Ferrari Amalfi makes its Malaysian debut - 632hp clothed in a Grand Tourer body

Ital Auto Malaysia, the official distributors of Ferrari in Malaysia has previewed the Ferrari Amalfi. This is a handsome looking  2+ coupé featuring a front-mid-mounted twin-turbo V8 engine. The sports car was recently launched sometime mid-2025 and replaces the Ferrari Roma. According to Ferrari, the Amalfi captures the perfect blend of modern elegance and high performance which makes it a unique car in the Ferrari line-up and on the market., It is different because if features the V8 engine up front instead of the mid-engine V8s like the 849 Testarossa and the V6 powered 296 which are more super car rather than the more relaxed sports car, touring features of the Amalfi.

2026 Proton X90 launched - The large sized SUV looses its hybrid system and ADAS 2 systems but gains the new 4 cylinder turbocharged 1.5l petrol and a lower price tag for all variants

So, PROTON just launched the 2026 Proton X90 full sized, three row SUV which now has Proton's Geely based 4 cylinder 1.5liter turbocharged petrol engine. The large SUV has now lost its 48v mild hybrid powertrain and the 3 cylinder 1.5liter turbocharged petrol engine with the earlier mentioned new engine. It keeps things simpler, but aside from that, the whole X90 is a simpler car, as the full Advance Driver Safety Suite has been removed.

Sometime in the midle of January 2026, Proton New Energy Technology Sdn Bhd (PRO-NET), which is  PROTON's new energy vehicle arm,opened the Proton e.Mas 7 Plug In Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV). We reported on it here with photos and all. Now, they have  officially launched the All-New Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV, which as you know, plugs in between fully electric and internal combustion engine vehicles. The notable fact about Hybrids is that they allow you an extended range and the flexibility of using fossil fuels to extend the range - here up to over 1,200km, and also they cater to those that are lazy to wait for long charging, or even top up times, at charging stations. An alternative, And Prices start from RM109,800 for PRIME variant, RM123,800 for PREMIUM variant and  RM129,800 for PREMIUM PLUS variant BEFORE early bird rebates (Early bird details are stated somewhere below).

Unlike earlier generations of hybrids and PHEVs, the all-new 2026 Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV has been designed as an electric-first vehicle. Its petrol engine serves primarily as a supporting energy source, engaging directly with the wheels only when it is more efficient, such as during highway cruising or long uphill drives. So it actually means that in commutes or traffic, it is possible to just run on the battery power for up to 170km. If you have your office, school run or coffee shop around 10km away, you could go fully electric most of the time. 

MAN urges Malaysian transporters to prioritise quality and lifecycle value when investing in fleet assets during senior management visit to Malaysia during two day event - Official handover of 30 units of MAN trucks to new customers and bus signing for 137 units of MAN buses

During a two-day management visit to Malaysia, members from the senior management of MAN Truck & Bus SE stated that the commonly adopted “buy cheap, use and dispose” approach used by some transporters often results in higher total cost of ownership (TCO), unpredictable downtime and increased environmental impact..They had also urged Malaysian transporters to prioritise quality and lifecycle value when investing in fleet assets, stressing that true sustainability is achieved through durability, reliability and long-term efficiency rather than short-term cost savings. 

We attended an event organised by MAN SE here in Shah Alam which showcased the latest MAN TGS Prime Mover truck and a handover ceremony of new MAN trucks Two separate events for trucks (official handover of 30 units to new customers) and bus ( this was the signing of a total of 137 units of MAN buses by customers over the two day event) were held in conjunction with the visit. . This was attended by customers, MAN SE personnel, invited guests and members of the media. The new Toyota Vios Hybrid (HEV) is now available in Malaysia

This morning, UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd (UMWT) officially launched the Toyota Vios HEV (hybrid electric vehicle) and Vios HEV GR Sport, which more importantly, comes together with the localisation of hybrid battery assembly at its Bukit Raja manufacturing facility. The combined initiative reflects the brand’s long-term commitment to making electrified mobility accessible, practical, and scalable for Malaysians. In other words, it allows the Toyota hybrids to be made more affordable to us here as it is locally assembled in certain models.

The Vios HEV is also available in a GR Sport (GR-S) version with sportier looks and enhanced performance. Both models are assembled locally and will be offered alongside the Vios 1.5G and Vios 1.5E, expanding the choices for the Vios, which has been among the bestselling models in the non-national segment since it was first launched over 20 years ago. The Vios HEV is priced from RM103,900, while the Vios HEV GR Sport starts from RM109,900 for Peninsular Malaysia, making it Toyota’s most accessible hybrid offering in the market.

Volvo Car Malaysia Launches the Locally Assembled ES90 - Single variant priced at RM339,888 before insurance

Earlier today, at the Bamboo Hills, Kuala lumpur, Volvo Car Malaysia held the official launch of the Volvo ES90. This is Volvo’s first fully electric sedan and it is assembled locally in Shah Alamm Selangor and is packed with innovative features as well as a very, very decent 651km range (WLTP rating). There will be one variant initially and will priced at RM339,888 before any insurance. However, there is an early bird 2% rebate for the first 100 bookings made until 31st of March 2026. It is now available for viewing at all authorised Volvo Car dealerships in Malaysia

Gerimis Baiduri Sdn Bhd takes delivery of 5 UD Kuzer light duty trucks

Gerimis Baiduri Sdn Bhd (Gerimis Baiduri), a Malaysian logistics provider for the frozen and chill industry, has taken delivery of five units of UD Trucks’New Kuzer light-duty model from LK Utara Sdn Bhd (LK Utara), a dealer of Tan Chong Industrial Equipment Sdn Bhd (TCIE), the authorized and sole distributor for UD Trucks in Malaysia. The new trucks  will be used to enhance the productivity of the company's daily transportation activities.

Kia Sales Malaysia officially launches the new, facelifted 2026 Kia Carnival - 7 Seater at RM188,888 and 11 Seater at RM248,888 before insurance

 

Kia Sales Malaysia (KSM), which is the official Malaysian arm of Kia vehicles, has launched the new 2026 Kia Carnival. The launch marks the company’s first model introduction since the establishment of KSM. Kia’s flagship MPV is now sold in its facelifted form and was first seen at the end of October 2023 for the 2025 model year onwards. For Malaysia, the new Kia Carnival is offered in two locally assembled (CKD) variants from launch, namely, the 2.2D 11-seater and 2.2D 7-seater, providing flexibility for both large families and executive-oriented users.

The 2026 Kia Carnival has a more distinctive exterior styling than its pre-facelifted predecessor. It features Kia's current "Opposites United" design language and gets redesigned headlights and taillights, the deletion of the visible handle for the tailgate release, a revamped interior with an updated centre console and new switchgear, plus some new interior features with updated technology and convenience features. It is locally assembled in Kulim, Kedah and will cost RM188,888 for the 11 seater and RM248,888 for the more premium equipped 7 seater variants before any insurance but with Road Tax.
