Hino Motors Sales (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd introduced their upgraded range of bus series chassis at the end of 2016. The bus series launched were the RN8JSNA, RK8JSKA and RM1ESKU. The buses are slightly upgraded. The new bus series focuses on safety, adds a bit of extra power and torque on some models and added comfort improvement features like an improved air suspension. The new HINO bus series were also introduced in Malaysia in compliance to United Nations Regulation (UNR) imposed by the JPJ (Jabatan Pengakutan Jalan) Malaysia.

All the upgraded models are equipped with Antilock Braking System (ABS) which increases braking effectiveness. Driver could experience better control of the bus especially during bad weather condition when the road surface is slippery. In addition, complying with government’s regulation, HINO new bus series comes with speed limiter at 100 kilometres that will prevent over speeding. Moreover, the installation of integrated transmission retarder acts as an auxiliary braking to improve braking performance and can help to avoid overheating of existing service brake.

The new RN8JSNA model is now equipped with higher horse power of 285PS and 775Nm torque compared to the previous model which made 260Ps and 892Nm torque. The new RK8JSKA which replaces two variants - RK1JSKA 210PS/554Nm and RK1JSLL 250PS/745Nm, makes 245PS and 775Nm.

All the buses chassis are only available with manual transmission and there are no signs of automatic transmissions for the moment. We suppose it is purely a cost issue as most customers which opt for Japanese coaches/buses are price sensitive. That being said, HINO had also announced a new 12-months and 100,000 kilometres warranty, which prior to whichever come first on chassis manufacturer defects only.

The RK8JSKA chassis is priced from RM232,700.00.
