KL Supercar Drag Race - 4 scheduled programmes from mid-July to December 2016 to be held


I am busy celebrating the Idil Fitri right now so there will not be many posts from me for the moment. Anyway, this is just to inform you folks that there will be something called the KL Supercar Drag Race at Dataran Merdeka that should be on from mid-July to December 2016. The first is scheduled for this coming 15th to the 17th of July. 


Expect lots of supercars contesting against one another. If you are supercar or sports car enthusiast, then the events scheduled would be an eye opener for you. According to the organisers, there would be lots of Porsche, Ferrari, Nissan GT-R super cars competing against each other.

The programme is scheduled for the following:
i. 15 th to 17 th July 2016 - Series 1

ii. 16 th to 18 th September 2016 - Series 2

iii. 4 th to 6 th November 2016 - Series 3

iv. 2 nd to 4 th December 2016 - Series 4

Each 3 day programme is an opportunity to personally see for one self an array of everyone’s supercar
dream cars drag race along a 201 meters stretch.

For the first time ever the KL Supercar Drag Race will be held at Dataran Merdeka, Kuala

Lumpur. This prestigious activity will be promoted as an annual event starting with 4 regularly

scheduled programs from now until December this year. Dataran Merdeka will act as the primary location.

i. 15 th to 17 th July 2016 - Series 1

ii. 16 th to 18 th September 2016 - Series 2

iii. 4 th to 6 th November 2016 - Series 3

iv. 2 nd to 4 th December 2016 - Series 4

The 3 days is an opportunity to personally see for one self an array of everyone’s supercar

dream cars drag race along a 201 meters stretch.

The Ministry of Tourism & Culture through Tourism Malaysia has also agreed to collaborate with

and support this initiative. Deemed as a "Sports Tourism", it could attract tourists from within

and outside the country to Kuala Lumpur.

The KL Supercar Drag Race is not only targeting the participation of 400 supercar owners (for

each series of the race, with a grand total of 1,600 supercar owners) from across the country, of

all backgrounds, races and religions; it also aims to unite the predominantly young supercar

owners who are successful in business with successful professionals under one program to

reflect harmony and unity among Malaysia’s diverse community.

Some 10,000 visitors from all racial and age backgrounds are expected at the event to witness

the powerful engines of the Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, GTR, Maserati, Rolls Royce, Mercedes

Benz, Jaguar, Audi, Aston Martin, Bentley and many more.

With the organization, this event can also expect to become one of the many tourist attraction

of Kuala Lumpur since motorsport has a high following which could indirectly put Kuala Lumpur

as a tourism attraction at par with tourist destinations of other developed countries.

The program also exposes visitors to specific business, entrepreneurship and training

opportunities in the field of automotive or motoring.
