ASEAN NCAP (the New Car Assessment Program) has released the results for the soon to be on sale Perodua Bezza compact sedan.
The Perodua Bezza crash test results are quite good - 5 star rating for the variants with ESC and dual airbags and those without both features get a 4 star rating. The Bezza is DEFINITELY promising.
According to ASEAN NCAP the Bezza performed as follows-
Perodua Bezza made an exceptional achievement by scoring 15.38 points for AOP (Adult
Occupant Protection ). However,
due to ASEAN NCAP 5-Star prerequisite, this sedan is eligible for dual rating; 5-Star AOP rating
for variant that is equipped ESC and both frontal SBR, but those without these safety features
received 4-Star AOP.
ISOFIX and top tether come as standard across all Perodua Bezza’s variants. Hence, in the COP (Child Occupant Protection) category, Bezza achieved 4-Star rating by meeting 85% compliance.
Bezza comes as standard with dual frontal airbags and SBR for driver only.
The Perodua Bezza. Affordable Safety for sure - Bezza safe, than sorry. Bezza is betta...So many puns but car is safe. Woohoo.
PRESS RELEASE
ASEAN NCAP – SAFER CARS FOR ASEAN REGION
ASEAN NCAP Releases 3
Kajang, 16 July 2016 – The New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian Countries (ASEAN NCAP)
today released the result of the newly launched Perodua Bezza during a Media Test Drive at the
Perodua Headquarters in Rawang. The Bezza marked a historical milestone as the first ever sedan
model produced by Perodua, Malaysia’s second national car producer, since its establishment in 1993.
All of Perodua’s earlier models were in hatchback or compact segment. This new vehicle includes a
number of features which will benefit consumers.
For ASEAN NCAP test, Perodua Bezza performed very well, achieving 15.38 points in the Adult
Occupant Protection (AOP) assessment. The result places Bezza in the 5-Star category for AOP.
However, due to ASEAN NCAP prerequisite for 5-Star, only the variant with dual frontal Seatbelt
Reminder System (SBR) and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) is being awarded with 5-Star whilst
variants without these features automatically rated as AOP 4-Star. Perodua Bezza also made an
excellent accomplishment in the Child Occupant Protection (COP) achieving 85% compliance, a
percentage that places the sedan model in 4-Star rating category.
ASEAN NCAP Chairman, Prof. Dr. Wong Shaw Voon said:
“Perodua has made such tremendous achievements with the production of this new sedan model. It
is the first sedan car by Perodua and it is also the first Perodua car to be installed with ESC.
Furthermore, it is also Energy Efficient Vehicle (EEV) compliant, in line with the National Automotive
Policy. With all these excellent features and by gaining 5-Star ASEAN NCAP rating for variant with ESC,
Perodua Bezza will definitely get a competitive edge to other cars within its category”.
ASEAN NCAP Secretary-General, Mr. Khairil Anwar Abu Kassim said:
“ASEAN NCAP released the “Affordable Safety” concept back in 2014. In principal, the concept will
ensure that even the cheapest car will comply with ASEAN NCAP’s basic requirements. Axia is one
example of a 4-Star car that met this concept. I believe Perodua Bezza has moved further than basic
requirements by installing ESC and dual SBR for its higher variant but still offers an affordable price to
the consumers. Bezza proves that SAFETY is affordable.”
The following are the gist of the Perodua Bezza results.
Perodua Bezza made an exceptional achievement by scoring 15.38 points for AOP. However,
due to ASEAN NCAP 5-Star prerequisite, this sedan is eligible for dual rating; 5-Star AOP rating
for variant that is equipped ESC and both frontal SBR, but those without these safety features
received 4-Star AOP.
ISOFIX and top tether come as standard across all Perodua Bezza’s variants. Hence, in the COP
category, Bezza achieved 4-Star rating by meeting 85% compliance.
Bezza comes as standard with dual frontal airbags and SBR for driver only.
