MY BMW World 2025 marks a significant milestone in BMW Group Malaysia’s journey, as it showcases over five decades of delivering the Premium Ownership Experience. This latest MY BMW World comes a decade after its inaugural showcase in 2015, BMW Group Malaysia returned with the second edition of its immersive brand experience, MY BMW World 2025 — a showcase of Driven by Legacy, Defined by Progress. This historic event will be held this weekend, from the 13th to the 15th of June 2025 at the Sentul Depot in Kuala Lumpur. 

I was able to attend the media preview which was extremely interesting for anyone into BMW and vehicles.This milestone occasion not only reflected BMW Group Malaysia’s evolution over the past few decades but also reaffirmed its enduring legacy in shaping the future of mobility. Under the theme of Heritage in Motion, the event captured the dynamic balance between honouring our past and embracing innovation, symbolising progress rooted firmly in tradition. It allows enthusiasts to immerse themselves with all things BMW and MINI.

The event also unveiled a diverse lineup across the BMW Group Malaysia portfolio which includes BMW cars, BMW Motorrad and MINI. The event will showcase the New BMW 218 Gran Coupé Sport, the New BMW X3 20 xDrive M Sport, the New BMW M2, the New BMW M3 Competition M xDrive and the New BMW M5. In celebration of its 50th anniversary, the BMW 3 Series stood as a testament to BMW’s enduring leadership in the sports sedan segment, with the unveiling of the New BMW 320i Sport and the New BMW 330i M Sport. 

Meanwhile, a new BMW Motorrad makes its way here. The all-new BMW R 1300 RT represents the two-wheel segment with its premium touring capabilities, while the display of the MINI All-Electric MINI Cooper JCW, the All-Electric MINI Malaysia Aceman JCW, and the New MINI Countryman JCW S ALL4 showcases MINI’s electrified performance and go-kart driving fun. These models feature multiple powertrain options that exemplify the brand’s commitment to Technology Openness and the Power of Choice.

Along with the latest additions to the BMW Group Malaysia portfolio, special cars were displayed, such as the BMW 760i xDrive Protection. This model offers unrivalled protection while delivering outstanding levels of ride comfort and spaciousness, advanced equipment features and the class-beating dynamic prowess for which the brand is renowned since 1978. Basically this is the official bullet proof BMW that one can specially order from the brand. You can spec it our with different levels of protection from small arms fire to even one that can take even higher levels of ballistic protection. As standard, the glasshouse should be able to stop 7.62mm rounds from an AK47 and you can specify it to be biologically sealed against gas attacks too. Suitable for heads of states, VIPs or very dubious businessmen in conflict zones.

Additionally, making its first- ever public appearance in Malaysia, the New BMW M4 Competition Coupé M xDrive also took the spotlight. The refreshed performance coupe, launched globally in 2024, exemplifies the evolution of the renowned M Power: sharper styling, enhanced tech, and pure track-inspired performance.

In contrast to this quiet strength was a display for those motorsport fans — thelegendary BMW M3 DTM Replica. A champion on the track and an icon on the streets, the BMW M3 DTM secured championship titles in multiple campaigns, particularly the Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft (DTM) racing series, which further established BMW’s roots in motorsport. Beyond itsvictories, the BMW M3 DTM is a living symbol of the brand’s racing DNA and a testament to the passionate community that keeps its legacy alive. GWM TANK 500 HEV now open for bookings with an estimated price of around RM350,000

GWM Malaysia recently announced that they will be launching the GWM TANK 500 HEV in Malaysia soon. This follows the launch of the GWM TANK 300 and is something that the market needs, chunky proper SUV looks and luxurious at that.

The GWM TANK 500 HEV  rugged exterior measures 5078 mm in length, 1934 mm in width, and 1905 mm in height, with a 2850 mm wheelbase. Porsche Malaysia celebrates 15 years in Malaysia - Shows off the new Porsche Cayenne S CKD and other achievements at a public roadshow in TRX

 

Porsche Malaysia, represented by Sime Darby Auto Performance (Auto Performance), had marked 15 years of Accelerating Dreams with a grand celebration recently. Last 11 – 13 April 2025 at Central Exchange, The Exchange TRX where  Porsche Malaysia also unveiled the latest generation of the iconic 911 (which is in this blog's previous article), alongside other Porsche sports car models. The anniversary celebration also highlights the marque’s rich racing history and DNA, with mall-goers invited to see the Sime Motors Racing Team 911 GT3 Cup Car currently campaigning the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia.

The New 2025 Facelifted Volvo XC90 - The most favourite Volvo SUV is better than ever for Malaysia and actually cheaper to buy here than in the UK

At the launch of the 2025 Volvo EX90 fully electrified SUV, Volvo Car Malaysia also launched the facelifted 2025 Volvo XC90 Twin Engine (hybrid) SUV. The facelift as usual brings an update to the exterior styling and most notably upgrades the user interface to bring Volvo Cars’ popular flagship SUV closer to the marque’s fully electric models. Other upgrades to the XC90 is a redesigned cockpit and larger user central display, upgraded suspension and interior materials, and improved sound insulation better than ever refinement and comfort.

This could be the most luxurious and complete EV SUV in its segment. The 2025 Volvo EX90 flagship fully electric seven-seater SUV is the first from Volvo Cars to be software-driven and hardware-ready for future autonomous driving and it is now made available in Malaysia. We get the top-spec variant with Ultra trim and twin electric motors with recommended retail price of RM442,888 (before insurance)

JAECOO Malaysia is officially previewing the JAECOO J8, the fourth model set to join the brand’s portfolio after the J7, J7 PHEV and the C9 by Jaecoo. The JAECOO J8 was first previewed at the Malaysia Auto Show in 2024.Now the D-segment SUV can be seen in full at the JAECOO J8 Preview Roadshow from 27 March to 31 March at the 1Utama Shopping Centre (GF Luxe).After that, the J8 Preview Roadshow will make its way to Queensbay Mall in Penang from 9 April to 13 April, and thereafter the Malaysian Autoshow from 8 May to 15 May 2025. Expect the official launch of this SUV to be soon after that folks.

JAC T9 4x4 Pickup truck in both Diesel and Battery electric forms launched.

Earlier this evening, Evolvelectric Motors Sdn Bhd (Evolvelectric Motors) officially launched the JAC T9 double-cab lineup for the Malaysian market. The new pickup truck from the Chinese manufacturer will be sold with either an efficient diesel-powered Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) variant priced at RZm119,888 and a Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) costing a little bit higher. Well, a tad bit higher at RM199,888 before insurance.

DENZA, a premium sub brand of BYD, officially entered the Malaysian automotive market earlier today with the launch of its flagship model, the DENZA D9. With the tagline, "Redefining Sophistication," Denza claims that it redefines luxury in modern mobility by combining elegant design, innovative technology, and sustainable performance. Expanding to a new premium segment for BYD, they aim to deliver an exceptional driving experience with Denza, demonstrating the company's commitment to continuous innovation and greener mobility to meet the needs of a diverse market in Malaysia. This is actually quite an important move, as this sits as a competitor to the basically monopoly that the Toyota Alphard and Vellfire MPVs here have when it comes to a premium MPV.

 

Scania hands over buses to Ekspress Perdana equipped with ADAS

This event happened in late January 2025. I was a little preoccupied with many other things prior to the recent Chinese New Year celebrations that I actually forgot to publish this. The photos have been sitting in the draft folder of this blog for quite a while. The event is momentous, as this marks the first Scania bus sold in Malaysia with some sort of Advanced Driver Safety features in it. Ekspres Perdana, a brand under Tiara Pesona Sdn Bhd, expands its fleet with 60 units of the first Scania New Bus Generation K410CB6X2NI and K450CB6X2NI Euro 5 double-deck express coaches equipped with Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) for safety.
