Today, the 21st November 2023 marks the official launch and price announcement of the smart #1 SUV/Crossover here in Malaysia. This comes after many days of teasers, previews and so on. The brand's first offering was launched by Yang Mulia Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry at an event attended by Tan Sri Syed Faisal Albar, Chairman of PROTON, YBhg. Dato' Hairil Yahri Yaacob, Secretary General of MITI, Tong Xiangbei, Global CEO of smart Automobile, Dr. Li Chunrong, Chief Executive Officer of PROTON, En Roslan Abdullah, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of PROTON, and Mr. Zhang Qiang, Chief Executive Officer of PRO-NET as well as many other guests.
PRO-NET, a subsidiary of PROTON cars, is the exclusive distributor for smart #1 in Malaysia and Thailand, has strengthened its support for the Proton EV roadmap by acquiring valuable insights and seamlessly establishing an integrated ecosystem. This spans dealer networks, aftersales services, the user-friendly digital ‘Hello smart’ App, and high-voltage battery management in Malaysia, showcasing the company's readiness for the electric mobility revolution. Basically, the brand paves the way for more electification within the Proton group as well as plans for future assembly of electric vehicles here by Proton.
With the tagline #TAKETHEsmartWAY, smart Malaysia launched the smart #1 Pro, Premium, and flagship BRABUS models and announced the prices which starts from RM189,900 onwards. Each variant of the #1 has their own characteristics, paving the way for a premium experience and a high-performance driving future.
The #1 comes in three variants, the PRO entry level variant, the Premium mid-spec and the BRABUS twin motor all wheel drive performance variant. The Pro and the Premium both are single motor rear wheel drive with 180kmh top speed and a 6.9second 0-100kmh acceleration time. The Pro has a smaller battery pack that allows the car an estimated range of 315km WLTP while the larger battery in the Premium allows an estimated range of 440km WLTP. The faster BRABUS variant has a 315Kw 543Nm motor setup with 0-100kmh in 3.9 seconds. The estimated range is 406km WLTP, less due to having twin motors and a more performance oriented set up. All have 22kw AC charging capacity and a faster 100kw fast charging with an even faster 150kw at super charging stations which can do 15% to 80% charge in 30 minutes only.

smart #1, will come in 10 colour combinations, including Future Green, Quantum Blue, Digital White, Cyber Silver, Lumen Yellow, Laser Red, Atom Grey – Matte (Atom Roof), Atom Grey – Matte (Red Roof), Cyber Silver (Red Roof), and Meta Black (Red Roof). Additionally, there are three variant specific interior styles, the 'After Dark' trim for smart #1 Pro, the two-tone white and black "Dark Matter" trim for smart #1 Premium, and the exclusive "BRABUS" interior for the smart #1 BRABUS.
