Aveta Malaysia has launched the much-awaited Ranger Max Explorer, the first adventure cub in Malaysia

Earlier today (the 23rd of November 2023), Aveta Malaysia Sdn Bhd, the manufacturer, assembler and distributor of Aveta motorcycles, launched the Aveta Ranger Max Explorer, the first adventure cub in Malaysia. The small underbone type, or here, popularly known as a kapchai, or cub has been engineered for both on-road and off-road riding, making this the smallest, dare I say it, dual purpose adventure styled bike sold in Malaysia.

Slightly delayed since its official launch since its unveiling sometime in the middle of this year, the Ranger Max Explorer can be had in Sierra Yellow and Forest Green colours. It is officially priced at RM6,988, excluding insurance and road tax (the final price may vary from dealer to dealer). The bike comes with a two-year or 20,000km warranty, whichever comes first.

The first-of-its kind bike adventurer style cub sized motorcycle here in Malaysia is powered by a 127cc air-cooled four-stroke SOHC engine which makes 7.5kW and maximum torque of 10.5Nm.The engine is coupled to a 4-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT).  Its brakes are dual-piston front disc brakes and rear drum brakes.

The Ranger Max Explorer features a specially engineered double T-bone frame which is a patented design specifically for its purpose which results in a lightweight but strong frame for exceptional stability and handling. The bike is perfect for leisurely road trips and yet fully capable of taking on unpaved trails to hidden fishing spots and camping sites.

It also has high handlebars, a seat height of 760mm, 180mm ground clearance and thoughtful foot peg placement offer maximum comfort whether sitting down or standing up. The EEV-rated bike’s large 8.5-litre fuel tank, the first of its size in this category, suitable for longer journeys with the long travel front and dual gas-charged rear shock absorbers that should handle most bumps for a comfortable ride.

In terms of its styling, the Ranger Max Explorer is a blend of retro styling and modern elements such as its distinctive round headlamp, unique integrated rear tail and indicator lights, round digital LED speedometer, classic side mirrors, multi-spoke rims and rugged partially-exposed, powder-coated frame endows it with a bold and timeless look that stands out from the crowd.

According to Steven Lim, Group Managing Director, Aveta Malaysia, the introduction of the  Ranger Max Explorer was in response to market demand after the overwhelming success of the Ranger 110 moped, which defied all expectations to sell more than 10,000 units since its launch in 2021.

That model was popular so much so that many had actually modified it like a mini dual purpose bike, looking like a Honda Hunter Cub adventure bike that isn't sold here . So basically Aveta had the idea of officially selling a proper adventurer bike based on the owners that had modded their Ranger 110 (see the before and after pics right above). Because of this versatility, the Ranger 110 actually became a runaway success for Aveta.

A great idea indeed. I personally found the bike extremely cute and unique. With the off-road styling and rugged looks, it should be a hit among Malaysian enthusiasts. The Ranger Max Explorer in the flesh, or the metal, is really like a cub that looks its off-roading part, with its knobby all terrain tyres, the dual rear shocks and if you equip the bike with panniers and other camping gear, totally cool for such a tiny bike.

“Despite hardly any marketing or promotion, we were pleasantly surprised to see the Ranger 110 gain a cult following with so many avid bikers customising and transforming the moped to suit their needs.   We believe the new Ranger Max Explorer, with its more powerful engine and better features,  is an even better bike for outdoor pursuits that many Malaysians have taken to after the pandemic. As a brand, we are pivoting from being just another supplier of daily use bikes.  We want Aveta to be synonymous with unique lifestyle bikes that redefine boundaries and offer endless adventure and fun at affordable price points,” said Steven.

Aveta is also investing in boosting its sales and aftersales support network to strengthen consumer confidence in the brand. They took the opportunity at the Ranger Max Explorer's event to also launch the Aveta Care on Wheels programme comprising a pick-up truck and three bikes to attend to customers in Peninsular Malaysia.  It is also collaborating with motorcycle workshops to set up 30 Aveta Authorised Service Corners all over the country by end of 2024 to cater to the growing number of Aveta bikes on the road.  In addition, 10 spare parts stockists will also be appointed in Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak to ensure easy availability.

In conjunction with the launch, Aveta will be launching a three-month “Time to Explore” campaign from 1 January 2024 to encourage Ranger Max Explorer customers to explore and share their adventures with the bikes along with the hashtags #Aveta #TimetoExplore #RangerMaxExplore. The top 20 winners will be rewarded with a 2-day 1-night convoy and camping trip.

Sales of the Aveta Ranger Max Explorer adventure cub will officially commence on 11 December 2023. The first 500 customers will receive an exclusive T-shirt.
