PROTON has now confirmed the price for the limited to 200 packages only R3 20th Anniversary Edition accessories package for the Proton X50 at the X50 Carnival at the Proton Centre of Excellence today. This announcement basically took awhile. It comes following its unveiling at the MARii Autoshow 2023 in May of this year. I wonder why it took Proton some many months to get this into production.
The package was launched in conjunction with R3's 20 years of existence and will cost you RM12,000 including fitting and can be ordered from any Proton outlet. However, However, do note that it is only available for those that have or have booked the Proton X50 1.5 TGDi in jet grey. So this is the major spoiler here I think.Anyway, the accessories package consists of a satin black vinyl wrap, specially designed R3 aerokit (front, rear and side skirts), R3 bonnet stripe, sporty rear roof spoiler, R3 18” Lightweight alloy wheels, R3 front grille Logo, R3 limited edition rear tailgate nameplate and interior dash nameplate, R3 headrest embroidery for the driver and front passenger seats as well as R3 carpet mats and Proton window tint. Delivery will start from mid-November 2023 onwards until the 200 units run out.
“As the company celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2023, it is a timely opportunity for PROTON to acknowledge some of our other milestones. R3 has been synonymous with Proton’s success in the motorsports arena for as well as developing models with outstanding performance for our customers who are driving enthusiasts.”
“Today, the R3 brand remains popular amongst Proton fans who have shown their support by purchasing R3 branded merchandise and specially formulated lubricants. We are grateful for their enthusiasm and want to reward them with this accessories package that was developed specially for Proton’s most popular SUV model,” said Roslan Abdullah, Chief Executive Officer, Proton Edar.
So this anniversary package is only for their popular X50 crossover and only 200 packages. Of course, exclusivity is something special and I understand why only so few units of this are being offered. I think it is good that their popular crossover is the vehicle chosen for the R3 anniversary as previously, Proton looked at the Iriz and Saga R3 limited edition variants. This time, it is a accessories package that can be bought by a current X50 owner that wants to be part of Proton's motorsport heritage.
You can;t give everyone what they want all of the time. Sometimes, only 200 people will get lucky.
