Michelin Safe on The Road (MSoR) Has Been Launched - Ongoing during the Month of May 2019

Michelin Malaysia has launched their annual road safety campaign, Michelin Safe on The Road (MSoR) with the aim to further show their commitment on road & mobility safety in this country. The road safety campaign aims at highlighting the importance of tyre maintenance and periodic checks as part of good road safety practices. Throughout the month of May 2019, Michelin experts and staff will be conducting thorough assessments on tyre conditions for the public at various locations throughout Malaysia (the list is stated down below).

According to Michelin Malaysia’s Commercial Director for B2B, Muhammad Arya Subrata (pictured above), “Safety is synonymous with Michelin. This is an important aspect of our societal commitment, whether by providing tyres with uncompromising quality or relentlessly initiating road safety programmes. Malaysia recorded its highest number of road accidents ever last year and this urgently calls for a greater road safety awareness. As the festive season approaches, the Michelin Truck will go from place to place to remind the public that tyres, being the first line of defence on the road, are key to ensuring their own safety  during their journey.”

While it may be common knowledge that road accidents occur due to reckless driving, it is also caused by vehicle failure due to a lack of maintenance. Tyres are one of the most important part of a road-going vehicle as it is the contact point between the vehicle and the road. It is where braking happens. As part of the MSOR Truck Roadshow, in-truck road safety education will be provided as well as complimentary tyre checks including air pressure, tread wear and overall tyre condition.

Michelin consultants will be on site several locations throughout Peninsula Malaysia from 11AM to 8PM to evaluate the condition of the tyres and provide valuable advice on how to prolong the lifespan of the tyres. Participating motorists will also be receiving car service voucher with free Petron card worth RM50 when they spend in Michelin Expert Centre.

Michelin Malaysia have so far stated that they would like to reach out to more local communities this year. This is why the MSoR truck will make pitstops at more locations in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor in addition to Perak, Penang and Johor Bahru. Increasing their touchpoints is instrumental to spreading greater awareness on tyre safety and improving their safety on the road.

Last year, Michelin successfully conducted 1,100 tyre checks in more than 26 locations nationwide. This year, with the support of its longstanding partners Petron and Tesco as well as the addition of Aeon Big this time around, the MSoR campaign will expand to more locations in the North and South of Peninsular Malaysia. Hopefully they will soon bring it over to East Malaysia so that the folks over there can also gain some benefit to this programme.

The campaign kicked off at Desa ParkCity on the 39th of April and will begin its tour from 3 – 29 May, 2019 at petrol stations and hypermarkets nationwide.
