This time in Spotted For Sale is another Honda. This time it's a 7th generation Accord that went on sale in 2003 to around 2008. What's interesting about this CM series Honda Accord is that it has a 3.0liter V6 engine shoved into it. Somehow at the time this car was launched in Malaysia in 2002-2003, Honda decided that it was a good idea to sell this large CC Honda Accord to Malaysians.
I don't know whether it was. There were not many sold obviously. It costed RM209,000++ when it was first launched. Meaning you could buy yourself a nice BMW 3series for just a little bit more. It's roadtax was also somewhat of a killer, RM2,122.50 per annum or thereabouts. Meaning the person who bought this did not want any German car, had tons of money and didn't mind driving a very 'uncle' looking Honda Accord. Just by looking at this car you'd know its styling has nothing in common with a 'Tap-R' Honda. But let's ignore the staid, dull, hopeless styling and look at the specs for a moment.
The 3.0liter engine is a V6, single camshaft per bank and equipped with variable valve and lift timing like most Honda engines these days. It pumps out about 214hp and a very fat 288Nm torque to the front wheels via a 5 speed automatic gearbox. This means that this 1545kg slightly dull looking four door family car can hit 0-100kmh in about 7.7seconds and a maximum speed of 211kmh. This is actually pretty fast even for 2015 in Malaysia. Most of those who supposedly make up their puny Toyota Vios, Perodua Myvi and Proton Satria Neo can barely make a 10second 0-100kmh time. Imagine yourself in one of these Accord 3.0 VTi. You'd be cruising the North-South Highway at 180kmh without breaking a sweat. 7.7seconds means that you can try and chase after VW Polo GTIs. You may not beat that sub 7 second car, but he'll be damn surprised that a barge is almost keeping up with this junior GTI. And in total comfort too. Check out that uncle spec wood trimmed interior, Bro!!!
And these days, this RM209,000++ car can be yours for RM46,000 and below. Like this example pictured here.... Yes, the drawback is the slightly expensive roadtax. But that being said, a there is no replacement for displacement especially when it comes to relaxed high speed cruising and refinement. Since the car is a Honda that engine should be very reliable and since its also a 3.0liter it is also very understressed in this stock form.
Anyway, what's not to enjoy when its a 3.0V6 with variable valve timing? Change the exhaust mufflers to something more open and you can also enjoy the burble it will give you. Then get some 17inch wheels and tyres for it and it would look decent with the bodykit pictured here too.
