The year end school holidays is the
longest of all the school holidays here in Malaysia. Most Malaysian
parents would be either looking forward to this period or actually
dreading the fact that they now have their hands full trying to keep
their children busy with things to do or places to see. Or the usual
family holiday of course. But I would have to say that this time
around parents have a little bit of help from Shell with the Shell
V-power LEGO collection.
The timing for the release of these
Shell V-Power LEGO models couldn't have been better. The LEGO model
sets were made available from the 1st of November 2015, just before
the beginning of the school holidays. The final Shell V-Power LEGO
collectible sets have been released and were released every Sunday -
from the 1st of November 2015 to the 13th December 2015. It would be
available at all Shell stations for purchase until 31st January 2016
or while stocks lasts. But I have to say that in my neighbourhood,
each set was sold out on the day it was launched. Amazing and
frustrating at the same time – but here's a top tip...head out of
the Klang Valley to the smaller Shell stations. Some still have the
sets available. You may actually find one of those LEGO sets over at
a station in Temerloh, Sibu or somewhere close to Bukit Kayu Hitam. I suppose it is time for an epic roadtrip
scouring all the Shell stations throughout Malaysia. The trip alone
would be worth it. LEGO, or bust.
Anyway, the LEGO sets actually keep
families and people from all ages busy. Take the main photo above for
example. My friend Azidi here is assisting his 6 year old daughter
assemble one of the models. Father and daughter bonding going on here
folks. This tradition of building LEGO sets have been going on since
LEGO was first invented. We have elders assisting the young ones
build these plastic blocks and even a small LEGO set can bring hours
of fun. One small LEGO set can build many things. The limit is one's
imagination and the limited bricks in the set of course.
The Shell V-Power LEGO collectibles are
actually very affordable. I would have to say that Shell has given
most of us a chance to purchase LEGO at a lower price than if you
went and bought a set at the nearest toy store. Maybe this is why
everyone rushed everywhere to get them. People know a good thing when
they see one.
NOTE: Now IF you can still
procure the Shell V-Power LEGO (As I suggested above, a small town away
from the Klang Valley is where you may still find some sets if you can't seem to find any around – This means Roadtrip time. We've actually bought a few of the sets whilst on trips outside of the Klang Valley, so this isn't just some false tip) sets you need a minimum purchase of RM40 of
Shell V-Power and Shell FuelSave fuel or purchase a 4litre pack of
Shell Helix motor oil. Once that purchase is made, you will be able
to purchase one of the six LEGO model sets which are priced at RM9.90
and RM13.90. It is RM9.90 if you pump RM40 worth of V-Power 97 or
V-Power Racing or buy 4liters of Shell Helix HX5 or 4 liters of HX7.
You will have to fork out RM13.90 for each LEGO set if you pump RM40
worth of Shell FuelSave 95 or Shell Diesel. There is also a limited
edition Shell Tanker for RM9.90 with every RM40 pump of Shell V-Power
or if you purchase either 4liters of Shell Helix HX5 and HX7. You can
however get the Shell Tanker free if you purchase the 4 liter pack of
Shell Helix Ultra engine oil.
