Today, Euromobil Sdn Bhd officially launched the new Audi Kuala Lumpur Service Centre located at Jalan Chan Sow Lin. The service centre was officiated by Brigadier General (K) Tan Sri Mohd Khamil Jamil, Group Managing Director of DRB-HICOM Berhad. Also present to witness the ceremony were Immo Buschmann, Managing Director of Audi Malaysia and Dato’ Radzaif Mohamed, Chief Operating Officer, Automotive Distribution & Manufacturing of DRB-HICOM Berhad.
This new service centrehas already been operational since early September. Audi Kuala Lumpur service centre has expanded its service bays from six to a total of 26 bays at this new place. Additionally, the aftersales service team has also been expanded from 21 staffs currently to 47 highly trained service advisors, technicians and consultants to provide the best care for Audi vehicles. As a result, service throughputs at Audi Kuala Lumpur will increase from just 2,500 service throughputs per annum currently into a total of more than 11,000 throughputs. One interesting fact is that this center has a special equipment and hoist to handle the Audi R8 supercar. That itself alone requires a million or two ringgit in specialized equipment so that the R8 can be maintained properly.
It has been a busy year for Audi according to Mr Immo Buschmann, with a few prominent launches like the all new Audi TT and Audi Q7 as well as consolidating its position with a more focus on quality and customer satisfaction rather than just achieving sales numbers. I suppose it has been hard for Audi to follow up with a bumper 2014 year with the A6 hybrid sales powering them through. 2015 has its effect with the implementation of GST and a slowing down of the economy. But that being said, Mr Buschmann and Dato' Radzaif also mentioned that being a premium brand, the target segment still has the buying power and sales are largely unaffected. I believe this to be true as most premium car brands have actually maintained a large part of their sales targets.
Oh, still no sight of Audi being locally assembled. This question has been asked over and over again. But it should be asked once in a while in case that eventually a CKD Audi happens and there's some hope of a cheaper Audi being sold in Malaysia. Well, not by much obviously, but it would be welcomed of course.
