MAN Malaysia introduces a taller, more spacious, driver focused all-new TM Cab for the Malaysian market - You can now stand upright in this MAN TGS truck

MAN Truck & Bus (M) Sdn Bhd (MAN Malaysia), who was the first vehicle manufacturer in Malaysia to offer Euro V engines as standard across its entire Truck range, has launched the taller and more spacious TM Cab for their TGS new truck generation range as an option. Previously,  the standard height TN Cab has always been preferred by the Malaysian market due to its flexibility but MAN Malaysia feels that it is timely to introduce a truck cabin that allows people to stand upright in the cabin, thereby allowing more space for the truck driver for his comfort and convenience.

The new MAN TM Cab, while larger in height is still compact and its weight-saving design makes it suitable for a wide range of applications such as tankers, silo and container prime movers or for hauling timber and heavy construction materials on typically narrow Malaysian roads. The All-New TM Cab has the same exterior width of 2240 mm and length of 2280 mm as the TN Cab but stands taller at 2035 mm compared to the latter’s 1737 mm. You can tell from the chap standing upright in the photo above.

The additional 280 mm of headroom translates into more space for upright standing, ease of movement and stowage and a more comfortable resting area at the back. This is important as the cab is both a workplace and living space for truckers. It is where they spend hours on the road and retreat to after work, especially on long-haul trips.

MAN Malaysia Managing Director Andrew O’Brooks said at the launch that the All-New MAN TM Cab was yet another market-driven offering from the company as it continues to drive change towards the future. They've done research on these important matters and have now come up with solutions required to make truck operations as efficient yet offering all the required creature comforts that a driver would be happy with.

Basically, MAN Malaysia has give their best and most efficient trucks which run on the latest Euro V diesel engines which make operators happy in terms of fuel efficiency, emissions control and overall operating costs. Now, they have focused on driver comfort, making this important factor that would actually be a key to entice drivers to work for companies offering the best trucks in the market.

“It has been almost a year since we took the lead in the sustainability journey with the bold introduction of our New MAN Truck Generation with Euro V engines as standard here in Malaysia when no other manufacturer dared to. On the global stage, MAN is also charging ahead with our all-electric large series MAN e-Truck set to debut just two years from now.

While we are actively shaping the transition to sustainable and climate-neutral mobility with high technology products, we remain committed to continuously innovating and improving our conventional products to meet the ‘real world’ needs of the transport industry today. The All-New MAN TM Cab offers all the advantages of the TN Cab and now fulfils the needs of the most important element in the logistics chain – the driver,” said O'Brooks

O’Brooks had also stated that MAN clearly understood the need to provide the right solutions to help transporters recruit and retain drivers with the industry facing an acute shortage in the area. So enticing truck drivers to companies that operate MAN trucks that have premium features could be the way forward.

“Truckers have a very challenging job -- they work with big machines, have to comply with various regulations and limitations, are often under time pressure, and are exposed to a lot of stress in road traffic on a daily basis.

The Excellent Driver Fit philosophy that guided the development of our New MAN Truck Generation extends to beyond creating a comfortable and ergonomic cabin. A whole list of state-of-the art driver assistance and safety systems keeps truckers safe every time they are on the road in a MAN Truck,” he added

Aside from the cleaner Euro V engines and the spaciously tall cabin which is offered as an option, the MAN range of trucks here can be fitted with active safety features too. Some of the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) that are available either as standard or optional in every New MAN Truck Generation include Lane Guard System (LGS), Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS), Tyre Pressure Monitoring (TPM), Emergency Brake Assist (EBA), Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Assisted High-Beam Headlight and Automatic Wiper System, Side Camera System (SCS) and 360° View Assistance (Bird View), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Continuous Damping Control (CDC) and MAN BrakeMatic®.

These trucks now have all the creature comforts that you get in passenger cars and more actually. MAN Malaysian is also one of the commercial vehicle brands that have been aggressive over the past two to three years. This is definitely a transformation from what was one of the quieter European brands in the commercial vehicle market to one that could be in the forefront of this industry.
