Today, the12 th October 2022, Blueshark, which is a leading smart electric scooter provider, together with EP Manufacturing Berhad (EPMB), announced a multi-stakeholder partnership with several local industry players, including Blueshark Ecosystem Sdn Bhd and the Malaysian Green Technology & Climate Change Corporation (MGTC) as part of its market introduction in Malaysia. This joint venture will produce Electric Scooters, create jobs from producing the environmentally friendly scooters, maintaining them and the supporting infrastructure required for them.
Beyond the product and business model, Blueshark is also committed to enhancing and expanding infrastructure for two-wheel electric vehicles (2WEV) with the first viable ecosystem that is designed to support its growth on a national scale. Of course, this is the main thing actually, producing EV Scooters and the necessary infrastructure to support their usage in Malaysia.
The Blueshark R1 smart electric scooter features its integrated ArkRide Operating System, an advanced, always connected OS with smart device interaction, a customisable Android-based user-friendly interface with numerous rider aids allowing software updates over-the-air, with comprehensive vehicle telemetrics linked to its own Internet of Vehicles (IoV)
It uses the latest lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery-swap technology to offer a highly durable, efficient and convenient power source providing 110km of range while easy battery-swapping tech means no lengthy recharge wait time.
So how does all of the partners come together in this venture?
At the International Greentech & Eco Products Exhibition & Conference Malaysia (IGEM) 2022 earlier today, Blueshark inked a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) with its key industry partners to create sustainability-led job opportunities for the B40 community in Malaysia while also facilitating the adoption of smart electric scooters here.
The partners comprise of their official manufacturer and distributor, EPMB, alongside Blueshark Ecosystem Sdn Bhd and MGTC. MoCs with other key infrastructure and operational partners will also be signed in the near future.
An upcoming pilot programme in the first phase in conjunction with Blueshark’s respective delivery and infrastructure partners to demonstrate the feasibility of its first-to-last mile electrified platform and market-ready ecosystem in the Klang Valley to further the agenda of safe, sustainable mobility at a lower total cost of operation.
With the Blueshark R1 smart electric scooter, riders will be able to experience the integrated ArkRide OS that is proprietary to BlueShark, complemented by a cutting-edge lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery-swap technology to enable a seamless recharge while on-the-go. Introduced with a commercially viable leasing model, Blueshark aims to enable SMEs and corporates to lower total running costs across the entire ecosystem – making Blueshark a smart choice for both the business and for environmental sustainability. This, in turn, also uplifts communities in the lower income bracket with access to green job opportunities.
In short, they intend to make this into a commercially viable leasing model with lower CAPEX and OPEX that aims to enable SME participation as well as facilitate the gig economy to elevate those in the B40 group. Noble causes. Let's hope this venture succeeds in creating more jobs for Malaysians.
With Blueshark’s first 3S centre opening soon in Glenmarie, this underlines their commitment to enhancing infrastructure and providing strong ecosystem support for riders during the pilot programme and beyond.
