Aston Martin Kuala Lumpur Launches their Latest SUV - The DBX707

The Aston Martin DBX is Aston Martin's SUV. Now, in its latest revised for 2022 form, it makes its ASEAN appearance here in Kuala Lumpur in its latest form, the DBX707. This range-topping hand-built DBX has been made better according to Aston Martin and adds more driving pleasure as well as performance to the mix.  The DBX707 gets the AMG derived 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 which generates 707PS and 900Nm of torque but what's new from this upgraded DBX are notably some chassis improvements, a 9 speed DCT transmission and carbon brakes.

It is priced from RM1,098,000 in Malaysia before taxes, duties, options and customisation (which are a lot if you want it to be).  It also comes with an optional extended warranty available for up to 20-years of coverage so that you don't have to part with your fully customised Aston Martin after a few years.

Realistically, with taxes, the sports SUV should come in at around RM2.5Million after taxes and all the stuff you want it to have. But it could be extremely worth it as it is extremely good looking, which is what actually counts when you buy a car like this aside from the fact that it will be quite rare and you are the lucky few driving around in one.

Oh, the engine also sounds throaty and nice when you want it to be. I think these two points aside from the fact that it is an Aston are all the reason you need to aspire for one. It should take a few months (around 6 to 8 months at least) for your DBX707 to arrive if you decide to have one.

Well worth the wait if you can afford to do so I think. It IS after all an Aston. One that you can take your family with you if that was stopping you from owning one in the first place.

OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE

ASTON MARTIN KUALA LUMPUR PREVIEWS THE DBX707

1st September 2022, Kuala Lumpur: Aston Martin Kuala Lumpur has redefined the gold standard of luxury SUVs with the official introduction of the Aston Martin DBX707 in Malaysia. Based on the first-ever Aston Martin SUV – the highly-acclaimed DBX – the DBX707 is elevated in every measurable aspect to deliver a unique combination of blistering performance, supreme dynamics, unmatched luxury and timeless aesthetics; making it the ultimate SUV in every respect.

“The Aston Martin DBX707 launches us to the pinnacle of one of the most hotly-contested segments in the luxury car market, both locally and abroad. Having the most powerful SUV in the world amongst our stable of celebrated sports cars and supercars is the natural step forward for Aston Martin Kuala Lumpur given our brand history that is steeped in racing heritage and engineering of the highest order,” said Mr. Kumara Sooriar Sivanasan, General Manager of Aston Martin Kuala Lumpur.

The Aston Martin DBX707 derives its name from the output of its 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine. The total output of the V8 engine has been raised to a class-leading 707PS and 900Nm thanks to the incorporation of ball bearing turbochargers and a bespoke engine calibration to liberate more power and torque from the V8 engine. This marks a significant improvement of 157PS and 200Nm over its predecessor.

Tasked with the responsibility of managing the greatest output officially recorded in a production SUV is a 9-speed automatic transmission. Fitted for the first time in the DBX, the ‘wet clutch’ transmission is linked to an electronic limited slip rear differential (e-diff) that has been strengthened to handle the full 900Nm of torque. With a shorter final drive ration of 3.27 (compared to 3.07 in the DBX), the DBX707’s acceleration in lower gears is increased while retaining efficiency and cruising refinement.

“The huge gains we have found in both power and torque demonstrates not only the inherent prowess of the 4.0-litre biturbo V8, but Aston Martin’s appetite and ability for finding uncompromising engineering solutions. The combination of this magnificent engine with a new 9-speed ‘wet-clutch’ transmission sits at the heart of DBX707’s formidable capabilities and unforgettable character,” describes Ralph Illenberger, Aston Martin’s Head of Powertrain Engineering.

The sum of these notable engineering improvements is a drivetrain that is now capable of launching the Aston Martin DBX707 from 0-100km/h in 3.3 seconds. Maximum speed is rated at 310km/h, making the DBX707 indisputably the fastest and most powerful luxury SUV in the world. To manage this immense straight-line performance, carbon ceramic brakes (CCB) have been made standard in the DBX707. Measuring 420mm in front and 390mm in the rear, the CCB rotors are gripped by 6-piston calipers and contribute to an overall reduction of 40.5kg in unsprung weight.

To underline the driver-focused credentials of the DBX707, the GT Sport and Sport+ driving modes now feature “Race Start” to give drivers the full experience of the vehicle’s unrivalled off-the-line acceleration. Although torque can be distributed 100% to the rear axle on demand, revised active logic in the all-wheel drive transfer case enhances control between the driveline and ESP system for a more natural, sports car-like driving experience in the DBX707.

While staying true to its performance-oriented Aston Martin DNA, the DBX707 also excels as a luxury SUV for all occasions. The air suspension system of the DBX V8 – already regarded as the best-handling SUV in the market – features new damper valving with recalibrated dynamic spring volume matching for improved body control and electronic power steering response. The latter has been optimised to offer better feedback for the driver to judge cornering loads and available grip with greater accuracy.

In order to imbue an aesthetic distinction from the DBX, Aston Martin designers have reinvented the front end of the DBX707 with a larger front grille defined by six double-vaned horizontal bars and newly-designed daytime-running lights (DRL). Combined with the new air intakes, brake cooling ducts and new front splitter profile, the modifications help improve cooling airflow to maintain optimum performance while creating a unique, visual identity for the range-topping Aston Martin SUV.

Similarly, the rear end of the DBX707 personifies its amplified performance in a dramatic fashion that blends the best of form and function. A new lip spoiler is added to the roof wing to reduce lift and increase high-speed stability while the twin rear diffuser now rises to meet the new, large-diameter quad-exhaust system. Finished in satin black to complement the gloss black treatment of the diffuser, this new exhaust has been tuned to deliver a unique sound signature that creates greater emotional engagement on the move.

Inside the cabin of the DBX707 – past the soft-close doors – the Aston Martin DNA flows through the standard Sport seats and sleek, dark chrome switchgear complementing the satin black appointments of the exterior. Three choices of interior environments are available to buyers, namely Accelerate, Inspire – Comfort and Inspire – Sport. All seat options come with 16-way electric adjustment plus heating as standard while Piano Black veneer is draped across the cabin as standard. Carbon fibre and bronze metal mesh finishes are also available as an option.

In addition to the wide range of options to choose from, Q by Aston Martin offers bespoke personalisation services limited only by the imagination. This allows clients to push their creative boundaries and truly express themselves with a DBX707 that is uniquely theirs.

The Aston Martin DBX707 is now available for viewing and booking in Malaysia with a starting price of RM1,098,000 excluding duties, taxes, options and customisation. Like every other model officially sold by Aston Martin Kuala Lumpur, the DBX707 is offered with an optional extended warranty of up to 20 years of coverage. This complements the Aston Martin ownership experience with vehicle lifetime protection for total peace of mind, subject to terms and conditions.
