BMW Malaysia had on the 13th of September 2022 unveiled the newly enhanced BMW M850i xDrive Coupé MY Edition. This is a special Malaysia only version of the potent M850i and it features added enhancements for the luxury M Performance sports coupé, a refreshed front end and a suite of upgraded standard equipment. The price before insurance of this range topping coupe is RM 1,102,800.00 before you factor in insurance.
With the M package, it gets a lot of M badging here and there. This isn't a full fledged M8, or the kind, but it does feature a lot of cosmetic and performance upgrades from the 20inch wheels and tyres and a M Sport Brake kit with black painted calipers.
While not a full blown M series machine, the 4.4liter V8 engine still makes 508hp and about 700Nm of torque. More than enough to poke for 99.5% of the time and with some to spare if you think about it. I also think 500 or so horses is a sweet spot in terms of power for a car of this size for our Malaysian roads. You can drive without having a nagging feeling that deep down inside, that it wants to actually fling you into the nearest ravine or jungle at every opportunity.
As a coupe in the Gran Tourer form, expect it to be extremely good at being a long distance comfy mile crusher as well as having handling to boot. These days, GT coupes like this make a lot of sense if you can come up with enough pennies to buy one.
the BMW M850i xDrive Coupé, first introduced in Malaysia back in 2018. Now featuring a distinct,
new front profile, the New BMW M850i xDrive Coupé MY Edition has received a suite of sporty
design updates for both its exterior and interior, as well as an expanded list of standard equipment.
Beginning with the front profile, the New BMW M850i xDrive Coupé MY Edition has been fitted with
M exterior mirrors and the signature M emblem on the kidney grille as standard, courtesy of the
standard inclusion of the M Performance package. This is complemented by the “Iconic Glow”
lighting feature for the kidney grille, with LED units that provide a waterfall-like illumination that
cascades down the grille slats. From the side, the sportiness of the New BMW M850i xDrive Coupé
MY Edition is enhanced by 20-inch double-spoke style M light alloy wheels in 895 M Bicolour with
performance and staggered tyres, as well as M Sport brakes in high-gloss black. Lastly, adding to
the distinctive profile of the New BMW M850i xDrive Coupé MY Edition are the M Lights Shadowline
and M high-gloss Shadowline with extended contents.
Moving onto the interior of the New BMW M850i xDrive Coupé MY Edition, the driver is greeted by a
larger, high-resolution control display, now measuring at 12.3 inches. M Sport seats are also
standard for the driver and front passenger. Besides that, Carbon Fibre M interior trim finishers
furnish the cabin, while the doors are also equipped with electroplated controls. For a higher level of
comfort and ambience, the automatic air conditioning with 2-zone control, while onboard
entertainment is provided by the Bower & Wilkins Diamond surround sound system as standard.
The alarm system also enhances safety within the vehicle.
Exterior colour offerings for the New BMW M850i xDrive Coupé MY Edition include BMW Individual
Frozen Pure Grey Metallic and BMW Individual Frozen Tanzanite Blue Metallic. On the other hand,
interior upholstery features BMW Individual Extended Leather Trim “Merino”, with colour offerings of
Black, Cognac, Ivory White, Night Blue, Tartufo and Fiona Red.
