Scania Malaysia had on the 15th of September 2022 delivered the first batch of 10 out of 40 units of New Truck Generation (NTG) prime movers ordered together with a Repair & Maintenance (R&M) Contract to Sea Hawk Global Lines Sdn Bhd (Sea Hawk). A 10-year complimentary Scania Fleet Management System (FMS) Control 10 were also extended for all the 40 NTGs. Aside from that, the whole procurement used Scania Financial Services for the financing package making this another complete vehicle package arrangement.

The 10 units of NTG Scania G410 A6X2NZ Sleeper Cab were handed over by Heba El Tarifi, Managing Director, Scania Southeast Asia to Mohamed Ariff, Chairman of SHAL Group (Sea Hawk Lines – Sea Hawk parent company from India) - pictured below right with Heba El Tarifi. S. Kamalesh, Director of Sea Hawk with senior management from SHAL and Sea Hawk present during the handover.

One reason for the procurement of Scania prime movers by Sea Hawk is Scania’s fit-for-purpose solution will help the company find the perfect balance of uptime, payload, and fuel efficiency. The R&M contract that was signed will give Sea Hawk worry-free operation due to predictable costs for seven years. This hopefully will allow the company to focus on its business by fully utilising the NTGs with planned downtime giving maximum uptime due to precise scheduling for repairs and maintenance with readily available parts, eliminating disruptions in Sea Hawk’s daily operations.

With a fixed schedule for service, maintenance and financing, it is projected thatSea Hawk will also realise profitability immediately with fixed and predictable monthly cost from the Scania Instalment Plan 7 (IP7) that covers for seven years giving the company total peace of mind in terms of the vehicles under this plan.

As being a current Scania product, the vehicles will also come with Scania's Fleet Management Solutions which allow for efficient use of the prime movers. For fuel efficiency the Scania FMS Control 10 delivers a lot more than just information and insights in support of the vehicle and driver performance.

From core necessities like real time positioning of the NTGs, via vehicle performance, environmental reports, service planning and defect reporting all the way to driver evaluation will help it to quickly identify potential vehicle usage improvements. The tractor air deflectors fitted in the NTG aerodynamics design further helps in saving fuel up to a maximum of 3.0% fuel as standard while the Eco-mode setting as default enabled by the Opticruise saves even more fuel if handled by Scania-trained drivers.

All these features will add up to significant fuel-economy resulting to reduced CO 2 emissions. Sea Hawk will delve further into sustainability for its business which will go hand-in hand with increased profitability.

Equipped with the standard safety features, the NTGs carry technologically advanced Electronic Braking System (EBS) and Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) and are also complemented with the Daytime Running Light (DRL) for better visibility for surrounding vehicles when on the road. A larger windscreen with extended viewing allowing for clearer visibility from every angle for the drivers, making it easier for them to operate in a safer environment.

A much-improved design from the previous generation makes the NTGs more driver- friendly with very comfortable adjustable seat that is close to the door. making iteasier for them to operate comfortably. These G Sleeper, Normal Cab NTGs offer a premium working cab with easy access, generous storage options and world-class resting possibilities. An ergonomic dashboard that gives easy to-use controls and on-board entertainment, life on the road just got more comfortable and enjoyable for Sea Hawk drivers.

“I am glad to be in a sustainable partnership with Scania knowing very well that weare getting maximum uptime and payload from our NTGs. After all Scania takes care of the maintenance of our Scania trucks ensuring the best fuel-efficiency with lower CO2 emissions resulting in sustainable, increased productivity and profitability for our business,” stated Pankaj Nair, General Manager of Sea Hawk.

Established in 2003, Sea Hawk Global Lines Sdn Bhd, based in Port Klang, is a major player in the logistics industry, focusing on shipping and container haulage as its core business.
