The Toyota Yaris compact B segment hatchback is soon to be sold with a slight front end restyle, have added vehicle telemetry system and have additional equipment inside. It is already open for bookings at all authorised Toyota dealerships nationwide and we have the estimated price list attached below for your convenience.
Estimated Prices for the 2020-2021 Toyota Yaris
The upcoming slightly refreshed 2020-2021 Toyota Yaris will have an all-new front bumper design which comes fitted with a front lower lip, a larger looking front grille, triple bezel fully LED Headlights, and repositioned Daytime Running Lights (DRL) which sits as part of the redesigned front side intakes. You will note that the design cues in this new front end redesign incorporates the family styling cues which you first saw in the all-new Corolla and the current Camry sedan. We do think that the front end update does make the popular hatchback even nicer. It must be the freshness. Sometimes a little new goes a long way.
The new triple bezel headlights are also equipped with follow-me-home function for both safety and convenience, and will be available throughout the introductory, intermediate and top of the range J, E and G variants respectively. So even if you buy the base J variant, you will still have this convenient function which will actually keep the lights on when you reach your home or destination at night and the area is pitch black.
As the updates are about adding value to the cars sold by UMWT, President of UMW Toyota Motor Sdn. Bhd., Mr. Ravindran K. said, “It’s about giving an already vibrant model a more dynamic and charismatic personality, and this is a strong reflection of Toyota’s global commitment moving forward. We will continue to offer customers vehicles equipped with advanced safety features, unwavering reliability, performance and convenience throughout our product range, but it is equally important that these vehicles must have a strong presence and be exciting to own, experience and drive.”
The Yaris was launched as CKD model back in April 2019, has been consistently No. 1 in Non- National hatchback segment until today. These refresh in terms of design and features is UMWT's push to maintain its market leadership in this segment. Even an already good product needs a refresher to stay at the top of its game and the folks at UMWT are aware of this, and we have to say that the customer will benefit with this continuous improvement in equipment and specification.
The new Yaris will have additional Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) features. The revised model will come equipped with a host of additional advanced safety features and now includes a pre-collision system (PCS) in which an integrated camera and radar system helps to reduce the risk of colliding with a car or object in front of the Yaris.
The PCS works from 15km/h and is able to alert the driver once it detects a vehicle which the system feels isn't within a safe distance it will engage and assist to reduce the vehicle speed as additional support to the driver (if the driver isn't attentive of the situation at hand).
A lane departure alert (LDA) helps avoiding unintended lane change through visual alert in Multi-Info Display and beeping sound to the driver. This system works at the vehicle speed of 50km/h and above and can be turned off if the driver wishes to and a 3D 360-degree panoramic view monitor giving the driver a surround and unobstructed front, rear, top, sides and three dimensional virtual views of the vehicle.
These features complement the safety systems already available in the Toyota Yaris. These systems include Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Traction Control (TRC), Hill-Start Assist Control (HAC), Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA), and Front as well as Rear Digital Video Recorders (DVRs). These systems make the Yaris one of the better equipped cars with active safety features at a certain price. Add to its good looks and this is quite a good package....
...and this is before we get to the connectivity equipment inside.
Inside you get a 7” inch Android Auto-Ready & Apple CarPlay (AACP) infotainment and navigation system. Vehicle Telematics System is now made as a standard feature for Yaris (G&E variants and a RM2,000 option for the J Spec). According to UMWT, the upgrade in the infotainment system and the VTS are made as part of the company’s direction in expanding the Connectivity under the 360-T Plus brand experience.
In terms of exterior colour, the new Yaris will be offered with a new colour option - Platinum White Pearl. The Red Mica Metallic and Silver Metallic are also offered as per the current Yaris.
As with all Toyota cars sold by UMWT, the revised Yaris will come with a comprehensive 5-year warranty with unlimited mileage. Prices will be announced soon and customers will continue to benefit from the current waived sales tax for new and locally-assembled vehicles. Customers also will be able to perform online booking of this new model in UMW Toyota official website starting 2nd November’20. But take a look at the estimated prices above. It should be around that amount.
