MAN Truck and Bus Officially Opens its Port Klang Service Centre

It has been awhile but they've finally done it. MAN Truck and Bus (M) Sdn Bhd (MAN) has officially opened their new service centre in Port Klang and the brand is now able to offer fleet operators and customers more efficient and timelier vehicle care in the busiest port in  Malaysia. The new centre started operating in August and is located at Lingkaran Sultan Mohamed 2, Port Klang. With this centre, it seems that MAN now has an even greater brand presence in the area.

The MAN service centre is situated on a total area of 91,000 square feet where allows for ample parking area for vehicles to be serviced and also for new vehicles to be delivered to customers. It features a 2-storey building and the workshop area alone takes up 21,000 square feet. There is a customer lounge area inside that provides complimentary refreshments and wi-fi connection to drivers and customers waiting for their vehicles to be serviced.

The service area of the new centre is equipped with six service bays that can service up to 12 vehicles at a time.It features the necessary officially certified equipment to provide the highest level of service and repairs including a MAN Cats III® Diagnostic system and air-conditioning servicing. As the centre has started operations under the new norm, it is also fully compliant to all the standard operating procedures (SOPs) required by the Malaysian authorities for the prevention of the Covid-19 virus.

“Simplifying business for our customers – by making business processes easier and more effective for them, remain one of MAN’s chief goals despite these challenging times. This new service centre will enable us to be closer and more accessible to our customers, on top of providing them with the best solutions for their transportation needs”, said Andrew O’Brooks, Managing Director of MAN Truck and Bus (M) Sdn Bhd.

According to the folks at MAN, there have already been several vehicle handovers at the new centre since it commenced operations. Things could have been even more celebratory if not for the recent Movement Control Orders put in place to combat the current pandemic threat. But what had been done so far at the new centre was the delivery of  Nine MAN TGS 28.440 6X2 prime movers including one with MAN XLion range that comes equipped with MAN Genuine Roof Top Air Conditioner RTX 2000. These trucks were recently handed over to Taipanco Sdn Bhd and Shallas Sdn Bhd. Three other units were handed over to Eminent JV Group Sdn Bhd.

According to Choy How Sing, Director of Eminent JV Group Sdn Bhd who is a first time customer of the brand, “I am delighted that the new MAN service centre is so near to where we are and I am confident MAN will be able to provide us with the best service for our vehicles’ needs”.

The news on MAN's expansion in Port Klang was first brought to our knowledge in January 2020 (as we were at the media event announcing their business plan for Malaysia). This feels so long ago especially with the lockdowns in place. It is good to hear that they have proceeded with their expansion plans even with such challenges going on at the moment. It terms of strategic planning for the brand, being in Port Klang is a necessary move for the European truck and bus maker. Prior to this, they had stationed their fully equipped mobile service truck at one their customer's premises and while this does benefit the surrounding customers, a location to call their own was necessary for a show of ultimate brand presence. They have finally made that possible now.

The Port Klang service centre is headed by branch operations manager, Gopinathan Chellayah. He has a team of trained personnel which will provide a comprehensive range of MAN services, including the Mobile24 breakdown service that offers 24/7 support to their customers. Aside from that, customers can also be assured they can purchase original MAN spare parts and accessories with a spare parts warehouse in the premise. The service centre is opened six days a week from 8.30am till 6.00pm.
