National carmaker PROTON has announced today that they are now accepting pre-launch bookings for the highly anticipated facelifted 2025 PROTON X70. The latest upgraded version of PROTON’s first SUV features a significantly refreshed exterior together with enhanced performance boosting both its aesthetic and driving appeal experience. But surprisingly, they have allowed us to show you folks the first official photos of the facelifted SUV, and it looks like a Jaguar SUV from some angles in my opinion. It looks fresh after so many years.
Six years or thereabouts to be precise, and it is about time that the popular SUV gets a new face, and a lot more equipment as six years is actually quite a long time in a car's lifespan these days. I like the new face , as it freshens up the look of the X70 and makes it even more European in looks. Even though you and I know it is a Geely underneath.
As the restyle is the first thing we notice, you can see the front end has been cleaned up a lot. The grille with its bow style design is prominent and the bonnet features power humps and curves downwards on the sides after the grille and to the new light clusters. The bumper is cleaner and makes the SUV look wider.
The same can be said for the rear, where the reflectors at the newly redesigned bumper are now horizontal making it seem to stretch out the sides of the SUV. Not much on the sides, but everything is more seemless than before. But the changes are also inside.
So, nearly six years after it was launched, and after it pioneered the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) for and affordable yet premium C-segment SUVs, the 2025 PROTON X70 is upgraded with ADAS level 2 system for improved safety and convenience. So it will be getting stuff like adaptive cruise control and intelligent cruise control features as well as upgraded sensors which should make it have a safety suite like the recently launched S70 sedan.
Another notable feature is the 12.3” infotainment head unit equipped with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. This has been something that car buyers look for in terms of how connected the car is even though I personally do not use it. Of course, I belong to a generation or two down the line and a basic radio would be enough for me. Aside from that important extra, the PROTON Link app has the extended capability to start the engine remotely to cool down the vehicle. The interior has been updated with Nappa leather seats in stone grey colour and multicolour rhythmic ambient light which you can see to the left of the screen.
Additional details will be revealed during the official launch soon. It may include additional refinement tuning since this is PROTON, and they do tweak their cars even if it is based on something else. The interior looks better too with the larger screen and that ambient lighting on the dashboard. These are stuff we see in many cars in 2024 and is indeed a refreshing change.
Similar to the 2024 PROTON X50, the 2025 PROTON X70 will have an amazing price and early bird package to award the customers for their trust and support.
