Video: I test drive the 2024 /2025 Scania New Bus Generation K410 Bus with the new Euro 5 Super series powertrain, 12 speed transmission and new axle

So the other day Scania did their official launch of their Super series of engines for both their New Truck Generation and New Bus Generation. These are essentially their new Euro 5 engines first introduced here in Malaysia sometime last year but Scania Malaysia was a tad bit busy with, well, things to have an event celebrating their presence here. But eventually they did, you can read it here and at the event, I managed to try out their K410 bus with the new Super series engine. The bus here is operated by Sri Maju, an established bus operator and one of those that keep ahead of the curve when it comes to having proper, modern buses here in Malaysia.

But the New Bus Generation isn;t only the new turbodiesel Euro 5 and 6 (not sold here at the moment) engines, but a rework of the bus chassis. It features a new transmission, new axles and more active safety systems. The engine retarder, which is a cool feature which you can see being used in the video above actually works well and should actually save brake liner replacements. The Euro 5 Super engine in both bus and truck will enable operators to save around 8 to 9% in fuel costs compared to the previous engines and should actually offset the need to keep on refill AdBlue which is required for diesel engines to operate under Euro 5 conditions.

Anyway, watch the video. You can see and listen to an amateur bus driver trying out the new features and actually tell you that it is so darn easy to drive the bus. It feels so car like and the transmission is smooth like a hot knife through butter. This is so much better than any of the previous buses I drove and yes, the Scania New Bus Generation is that good.
