GWM Malaysia boosts production, expected to launch first CKD model in second half of 2024


Great Wall Motor(GWM) has a long term business strategy, Actually any company that intends to have a long and properous life should have a long term strategy. In the case of GWM, their strategy is to make the brand global. They have four strategic pillars, which are Locally Built, Locally Operated, Locally Cultivated and Supply Chain Integrate. This is three Ls and a S? But whatever it is GWM states that this has resulted in a remarkable results of 62.59% year-on-year increase in global sales, which accounts for a very good figure of 201,500 units of overseas sales in the first half year of 2024 alone. So it is because of this, GWM Malaysia is confident with their plan to locally assemble their vehicles and launching different types of vehicles in 2024. 

Next in the pipeline is the Malaysian launch of the GWM HAVAL H6, which has been dubbed the 'Best-Selling SUV in China',  It is also set to be GWM’s first CKD (Completely Knocked Down) vehicle in Malaysia and is set for launch in the third quarter of 2024. This will also be GWM Malaysia’s first CKD product with EPMB, a Malaysian automotive investment holding company. 


The establishment of a CKD plant in Malaysia will play a significant role in GWM’s plan to establish its market presence in the ASEAN region with a comprehensive sales, after-sales service and spare parts infrastructure network. This strategic partnership strives to offer a more affordable range of high-quality vehicles while generating more employment opportunities for Malaysians. It will also expand the production capabilities of GWM’s overseas, and better meet the needs of users in overseas markets.

In alignment with their global commitment to promoting sustainable mobility solutions, GWM are expanding their product line by introducing more environmentally friendly vehicles in Malaysia to meet local demands. This had started with the launch of the all-electric hatchback GWM ORA GOOD CAT at the end of 2022. 2024 continues  in increasing its brand awareness and market presence by introducing new vehicle models: the all-electric GWM ORA 07 in April 2024 and the petrol powered GWM TANK 300 in July 2024. They have reported that they had received an overwhelming response from Malaysian consumers for the TANK 300 with more than 300 bookings in the short period since its launch in Malaysia a few weeks ago.

Since it entered the Malaysian market in 2022 directly as manufacturer,GWM has been committed to redefining the concept of automobiles with its innovative approach to producing user-friendly vehicles.
