The most interesting of all the Porsche 911 variants is back with its latest iteration. The All-new 911 GT3 continues its lineage of pure normally aspirated high-revving performance. This is uadulterated 911 with an updated 4.0-litre six-cylinder boxer engine delivering 510PS and a torque of 470 Nm with no turbocharger to quieten the flat six engine at full chat. It is pure actually. And the 911 that I actually prefer even over the faster Turbo variants.
This Seventh-generation model accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 3.4 seconds and has a top speed of 318 km/h. The GT3 features track car inspired bits with its: first-ever double-wishbone front axle, swan-neck fixed rear wing, racing rear diffuser and individual throttle bodied engine which makes this normally aspirated monster of an engine suck in as much air as something without a turbocharger can do.
This new 91 GT3 can be fitted with the GT3 Touring Package available at no additional cost, and Porsche says that the optional package is perfectly suited for the sports car enthusiast with a passion for understatement and driving pleasure. This package is for those that do not want their GT3 to shout its racing credentials but have an exterior that looks like a more 'ordinary' 911 as it actually comes without the fized rear wing but an electronically adjustable one from the regular production models. It also comes with the 6 speed manual transmission too. If one likes shifting gears the old, traditional way.
Aside from that, there is more customisation possible than ever with GT3-specific Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur range and Porsche Paint-to-Sample programme. So the sky is the limit but this usually comes with a waiting period of course. Not that the standard GT3 has no waiting period here in the first place.
Prices for the new 911 GT3 and GT3 Touring Package in Malaysia starts from RM1,766,244.00 (with SST exemption).
(UPDATE) I had a short one lap drive in this and it was fantastic. It's that engine you see. Normally aspirated and uncorrupted by any forced induction. The steering is telepathic and you are in driving nirvana. Will do a proper write up soon.
The new 911 GT3 is now available for pre-order at Porsche Centres nationwide. More details are stated in the Official Press Relaase below.
OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE - 2022 Porsche 911 GT3
Kuala Lumpur. In 1999, Porsche introduced the first ‘GT3’ derivative of its 996-generation 911
as a homologation model for the FIA GT3 cup. Over two decades and seven editions later, the all-
new Porsche 911 GT3 transfers pure racing technology into a production model more
systematically than ever before, resulting in a brilliant driving machine that is exciting, precise
and with high-performance – perfect for the circuit and balanced for everyday use. The all-new
911 GT3 achieves a Nürburgring Nordschleife lap time of 6:59.927 minutes, approximately 17
seconds faster than its predecessor.
Porsche Malaysia, represented by Sime Darby Auto Performance (SDAP) launched the seventh
generation of the 911 GT3 at the world-famous Sepang International Circuit.
The latest in a long line of pure driving machines, the distinctive strength of the all-new 911 GT3
lies in the sum of its characteristics. It features a naturally-aspirated 4.0-litre six-cylinder which
develops 375 kW (510 PS) and 470 Nm of maximum torque. Weighing only 1,435 kilograms
when equipped with the standard 7-speed PDK, the 911 GT3 is capable of a top speed of 320
km/h, making it considerably faster than the previous 911 GT3 RS.
Additionally, enthusiasts can configure their 911 GT3 with a 6-speed manual GT sports gearbox,
or opt for the GT3 Touring Package at no additional cost.
“Motorsport has always been a core tenet of the Porsche brand identity, and the 911 GT3 has
long exemplified this passion for racing by transferring every ounce of expertise gained on the
track onto the road. With the all-new 911 GT3 we are launching today, we are giving our
customers the purest driving thrills possible behind the wheel of a Porsche 911,” said
Christopher Hunter, Chief Executive Officer of SDAP.
“While the 911 GT3 makes for an ideal Sepang companion for the active community of track-
going Porsche owners here in Malaysia, those who prefer to experience the dynamic qualities of
the GT3 in a more understated fashion across longer journeys can go for the Touring Package
which transforms the GT3 into a more road-oriented grand tourer (GT),” he added.
Engineered on track, perfected for every road
A true road-legal GT race car, the all-new 911 GT3 inherits elements straight from racing; for
the first time, the car features a double-wishbone front suspension layout taken from the Le
Mans-winning 911 RSR race car, with specific geometry and calibration changing the car’s turn-
in behaviour and allowing for sure-footed agility on the racetrack.
The car’s sophisticated aerodynamics with swan-neck rear wing mounting and striking diffuser
are also from the 911 RSR, allowing for approximately 50% more downforce than before withouT
affecting the drag coefficient. The manually-adjustable rear wing and diffuser elements can also
be set to increase aerodynamic downforce by up to 150% to assist drivers in managing higher
cornering speeds.
More racing elements are found in the GT3’s six-cylinder boxer engine: the flat-six boxer is
capable of revving up to 9,000rpm, and is based on the drivetrain of the 911 GT3 R, which has
been tried and tested in endurance racing. Renowned for its acoustics, the 4.0-litre engine
features individual throttle bodies for each of its six cylinders and is utilised practically
unchanged in the new 911 GT3 Cup.
Despite a wider body, larger wheels, as well as additional technical and safety features, the new
911 GT3 tips the scales on par with its predecessor. Equipped with the standard 6-speed manual
transmission, the GT3 weights just 1,418 kilograms (7-speed PDK: 1,435 kilograms).
This low overall weight figure is achieved through extensive use of lightweight materials: the
front bonnet and rear wing are made from the carbon-fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP), the
windows are made from lightweight glass, and the starter battery is a small LiFePO4 unit. In
addition, forged lightweight wheels and a sports exhaust system are responsible for a weight
reduction of more than ten kilograms.
911 GT3 with Touring Package: where performance meets understatement
Though more discreet and subtle in appearance, the 911 GT3 with Touring Package delivers the
same high performance expected from a GT vehicle. Featuring a 6-speed manual GT sports
gearbox as standard, the 911 GT3 with Touring Package is offered as a distinguished alternative
to the purist 911 GT3, and is perfectly suited to sports car connoisseurs with a passion for
understatement and classic driving pleasure.
The most conspicuous difference with the Touring Package is the omission of the fixed rear wing
of the 911 GT3. In its place is an automatically extending rear spoiler which offers the necessary
downforce at high speeds while maintaining a more understated aesthetic. Silver-coloured trim
strips made of high-gloss anodised aluminium on the side windows are another distinguishing
feature, while the front end is painted completely in the exterior colour.
The rear lid grille features a unique ‘GT3 Touring” logo, which sits above the signature Porsche
lettering, also finished in silver.
Almost all optional equipment available for the 911 GT3 can be specified in combination with
the Touring Package. This includes all exterior and wheel colours, LED headlights with Porsche
Dynamic Light System (PDLS) and Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus (PDLS), Porsche Ceramic
Composite Brakes (PCCB), lift system on the front axle, seat variations, assist systems, audio
systems and the Sport Chrono package.
The interior: Cockpit fit for a professional driver
The racing genes of the 911 GT3 are proudly expressed within the cabin of the GT3. The cockpit
is designed in line with the current 992 generation, but the GT3-specific instrument cluster
features a central rev counter, which goes up to 10,000rpm, flanked by two high-resolution 7.0-
inch displays featuring the new track screen.
This feature allows the driver to simplify the digital displays to prioritise vital track information
such as tyre pressure, oil pressure, oil temperature and fuel tank level at the touch of a button. It
also includes a visual shift assistant with coloured bars to the left and right of the rev counter
and a shift light to facilitate more accurately-timed gear changes.
Like all 992 generation 911 models, infotainment in the 911 GT3 is centred on a high-resolution
10.9-inch touchscreen display featuring the latest Porsche Communication Management (PCM)
system with online navigation and Porsche Connect Plus. This system also supports the Porsche
Track Precision App, which helps drivers maximise their track sessions and improve lap times by
providing detailed driving data, including live displays and video analyses.
Enhanced customisation and exclusive chronographs
Following heightened demand for customised equipment among Porsche GT models, the
Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur range has been updated to include GT3-specific options such as
a lightweight roof made of exposed carbon fibre, exterior mirror tops made of carbon, darkened
LED matrix headlight bases and matching Exclusive design rear lights with an arc of light without
the red components. Optional Guards Red or Shark Blue painted wheel rims allow owners to
enhance the visual impact of the black alloy wheels. Inside, equipment details such as the dials
for the rev counter and Sport Chrono stopwatch, seatbelts and trim can also be customised to
almost any colour of choice.
For even more exclusivity, Porsche offers its special ‘Paint to Sample’ programme for ultimate
exterior personalisation, with 105 classic shades from Porsche’s past catalogue, as well as
bespoke possibilities according to a customer’s choice, subject to availability.
