The All-New Perodua Myvi officially receives its 5-star safety certification from ASEAN NCAP

Today the all-new Perodua Myvi officially receives its 5-star safety certification from ASEAN NCAP. This Malaysian all-time favourite was tested and rated based on ASEAN NCAP’s latest 2017-2020 protocol where it scored 32.71 points out of a possible 36 for Adult Occupant Protection (AOP), representing a 90.9% compliance, and 43.14 points out of a possible 49 for Child Occupant Protection (COP), representing an 88% compliance. Safety is affordable these days.

Perodua is extremely proud of their achievement and this is in line with their 'People First' motto. This car is also the most affordable car which has Active Safety Assist systems built into it. It may be a little basic compared to cars higher up the price range, but it is a step in the right direction as even cars hovering around the RM100,000 price range cannot offer what the all-new Myvi offers in the RM45,000-RM56,000 price range.

Aside from the official announcement, the ASEAN NCAP event, held at the Malaysian Institute Of Road Safety and Research (MIROS) in conjunction with the announcement of three other crash test announcements at the ASEAN NCAP: Towards Autonomous Seminar earlier today.

Perodua took the opportunity to showcase its autonomous emergency braking system here.

Kajang, 19 Dec: The Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS) today has
officially presented Perodua with a certificate recognising the new Perodua Myvi as
having been given a full 5-star ASEAN New Car Assessment Programme (ASEAN
NCAP) safety rating.

“We are simultaneously proud and humbled by this recognition of our achievement.
Perodua is a company that always puts ‘People First’, and the new Myvi represents our
strongest effort thus far to ensure the safety of our customers and the occupants in our
vehicles,” Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer Datuk (Dr) Aminar Rashid
Salleh said at the ‘ASEAN NCAP: Towards Autonomous’ seminar today.

“We would like to thank MIROS and ASEAN NCAP for their cooperation and guidance
in assisting Perodua to make the new Myvi a 5-star car,” added Datuk (Dr) Aminar.
Tested and rated based on ASEAN NCAP’s latest 2017-2020 protocol, the new Myvi
scored 32.71 points out of a possible 36 for Adult Occupant Protection (AOP),
representing a 90.9% compliance, and 43.14 points out of a possible 49 for Child
Occupant Protection (COP), representing an 88% compliance.

The 5-star safety rating applies to all variants of the new Myvi, which has as standard
four airbags, ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Vehicle Stability
Control (VSC), Traction Control, Emergency Stop Signal, ISOFIX, reverse sensors and
seat belt reminders for all seats.

Additionally, the 1.5 variants get six airbags and the range-topping 1.5 Advance debuts
the Advanced Safety Assist suite of active safety systems, which comprise Pre-Collision
Warning, Pre-Collision Braking, Front Departure Alert and Pedal Misoperation Control.
“The new Myvi is the first vehicle in Malaysia to introduce such a suite of advanced
safety features at this price point. In fact, it is the most affordable car with autonomous
emergency braking in Malaysia. With the new Myvi, we are bringing active safety to the
people,” said Datuk (Dr) Aminar.

“The new Myvi is Perodua’s second 5-star car after the Bezza. Last year, ASEAN NCAP
awarded the Bezza ‘Best Child Occupant Protection’ and ‘Best Adult Occupant
Protection’ in the small family car category. All of our vehicles are rated by ASEAN
NCAP and conform to safety regulations,” he continued.
