New 2021 Mitsubishi Triton Athelete is Now Available in Malaysia

 

Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM), the official distributor of Mitsubishi vehicles in Malaysia, introduced the newest variant of the Mitsubishi Triton Athlete. The Triton Athlete is the flagship model of the Mitsubishi Triton 4x4 pick-up range which replaces the Triton Adventure X. It will be available in three colours which are the Sun Flare Orange Pearl, White Diamond and Jet Black Mica. Aside from the three colours, being the flagship variant, it will come packed with more equipment than the usual variants.

To add more character and flair as the top of the range Triton, the 2021 Triton Athlete get a gloss black front under garnish and the familiar ‘Dynamic Shield’ front design concept features a glossy black radiator grille and sporty ‘ATHLETE’ graphic design side stripe sticker. The black theme also including side mirrors, door handles, aero type window deflectors, 18-inch gloss black alloy wheels and side steps.

The interior of the Triton Athlete has orange-stitching for its leather wrapped steering, gear knobs and LED illuminated scuff plates. It also comes with rear air circulator, a first for a pickup truck sold in Malaysia according to MMM.

The Triton Athlete is priced at the following on-the-road and without insurance for private registration, and comes with a warranty of 5-Years or 200,000km whichever comes first.

The Triton is MMM’s volume seller and the model had recorded a sales performance of 7,598 units for Financial Year 2020 (April 2020- March 2021), which is a 32% increase in sales as compared to Financial Year 2019 (April 2019- March 2020). It's popularity is deserving in our opinion as it is actually an all rounded pickup truck from what we have seen so far.

The Triton Athlete is powered by a 2.4-litre MIVEC turbodiesel engine, which produces 181 PS max power and 430 Nm max torque with Variable Valve Timing technology.

Safety wise, the Triton Athlete comes with class-leading safety features as standard, such as Forward Collision Mitigation (FCM), Blind Spot Warning with Lane Change Assist (BSW with LCA), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Ultrasonic Misacceleration Mitigation System (UMS), Auto High Beam (AHB) and 7 SRS airbags.

The Triton Athlete is also equipped with an All Round Monitor (ARM), Driving Video Recorder (DVR) and 7-Inch Touchscreen Audio with Apple Carplay and Android Ready as standard. The ARM, DVR, and infotainment system upgrades are offered by MMM authorized dealers at all Mitsubishi Motors showroom nationwide.

For control, the Triton Athlete is fitted with Super Select 4WD II with off-road mode for optimum traction and handling characteristics in any given terrain. The Triton Athlete also comes with Hill Descent Control where the vehicle speed is electronically controlled while it is in a descent mode.

The Triton Athlete also delivers an impressive turning radius of 5.9m, making parking or turning in the tightest spaces effortless.
