The Ford Ranger, both the pre-facelifted and the current facelifted one is a solid product. Good looks, tons of user friendly features as well as being easy to drive around for a pick-up truck is the reason the Ranger sells well. Of course, the other products are just as able. The Ford Fiesta sold over 1,237 units. That's a good little hatchback that handles well. Then comes the also very able Ford EcoSport. A mini SUV that comes in pretty handy during flash floods.
But that new Ford Mondeo is especially good. That sedan drives so darn well but it does not get the same amount of love. Now its steep price aside.....Why aren't more of you guys out there buying the Mondeo!!!!!!???
PRESS RELEASE
Record Year for Ranger Drives Ford’s Malaysia Sales in 2015
KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, Jan. 13, 2016 – Ford today announced 2015 retail sales in
Malaysia of 12,130 units, driven by an all-time record year for the Ford Ranger pickup.
Ford finished the year strong as December sales rose seven percent from the previous
month to 889 units.
The class-defining Ranger remained Ford’s best-selling vehicle in Malaysia, and the
country’s second-best-selling pickup truck overall in 2015, with full-year sales rising seven
percent year-over-year to 9,231 units.
“Our new Ranger epitomizes Ford’s proud truck heritage and global expertise, and is the
most capable, most powerful and smartest truck in the market today. It’s everything our
Malaysian customers have come to love about the Ranger, which is helping to further drive
its widening appeal,” said David Westerman, managing director, Malaysia and Asia Pacific
Emerging Markets, Ford Motor Company.
The new Ranger, which was launched in Malaysia in October, has already been recognised
for its class-leading safety features and overall leadership in the pickup truck segment.
Ranger was awarded a maximum five-star safety rating by the ASEAN New Car Assessment
Program (ASEAN NCAP) – including the highest total Adult Occupant Protection (AOP)
score of any pickup truck in Malaysia.
Ranger was also named ‘Pick-up Truck of the Year 2015’ at the New Straits Times-Maybank
Car of the Year 2015 and the 2015 ASEAN Car of the Year awards.
The sporty Fiesta contributed full-year sales of 1,237 units. With steady demand for both the
1.5L variant and internationally award-winning 1.0L EcoBoost variants, the Fiesta delivers a
class-leading combination of performance, fuel efficiency and emissions levels.
The versatile EcoSport, which combines with the agility, affordability and fuel efficiency of a
compact car with the flexibility, style and ride height of an SUV, contributed full-year sales of
855 units.
Ford’s commercial vehicle presence also gained momentum, with the Transit van lineup
contributing sales of 93 units.
Network Expansion and Customer Service Enhancement
Ford and distribution partner Sime Darby Auto Connexion (SDAC)’s ongoing RM140 million
network expansion and customer service enhancement strategy progressed in 2015, with
the opening of three new or significantly upgraded facilities. This included Ford’s 48th
dealership SDAC PJ2, the brand’s largest and most advanced sales and service centre.
“The new world-class SDAC PJ2 showroom and service centre is designed to offer the best
sales and aftersales experience to Ford’s fast-growing customer base in the Klang Valley,”
said Syed Ahmad Muzri Bin Syed Faiz, managing director, Sime Darby Auto Connexion.
Ford and SDAC’s efforts to improve customer service were recognised in 2015, showing the
second highest improvement of any brand in the J.D Power 2015 Malaysia Customer
Service Index Study. Ford jumped five places to rank fourth in the survey.
“We are committed to going further in 2016, as we continue to focus on upgrading our
facilities and enhancing the overall customer experience. We will also continue to expand
our lineup of global Ford vehicles, with a number of launches including the iconic new
Mustang and technology-packed new Focus,” said Westerman.
