Mercedes Benz Malaysia had quietly launched the W222 S-class here in the Klang Valley recently. In our case, the long wheelbase V222 variants. Anyway my contacts had stated that the launch happened over the weekend to a select few guests. Very pish posh tish tosh you know. These are those VVIPs that had already placed bookings for the car and you guys very well know that Malaysian towkays cannot resist a new S-class. I know some have placed their bookings as soon as the car was out over in Europe.
S400L HYBRID
I mean who could resist? Packed to the brim with technology as well as being the final word in comfort (this side of a million Ringgit), captains of every industry would keep an eye out for it. The car set to be sold here in Malaysia is the S400L HYBRID. It gets a 3.5liter V6 coupled to an electric motor. The engine makes 225 + 20hp and 370Nm of torque spread between 3500-5250rpm. It weighs 1945kg unladen yet hits 0-100kmh in around 6.8 seconds and a limited speed of 250kmh. Aside from that it has every sort of gadget a CEO would want....and more. Malaysian specs include mood lighting, airmatic suspension and all the COMAND infotainment system, thermotronic climate control, lane assist, attention assist, motor assist, park assist, presafe, parktronic, distronic, whattronics that Mercedes has except the Magic Carpet ride option which is a ridiculously expensive option to put into an already expensive Malaysian specced, fully imported (CBU) car that costs RM920,000+, give or take a few more tens or thousand.
Anyway, what's surprising is that Mercedes Benz Malaysia will be offering another variant of the W222 S-class - the CBU S500L with AMG Sports Package for a cool RM1,080,888 (very prosperous number). The AMG sports packages includes the other stuff mentioned, and not mentioned above and adds 20inch AMG alloy wheels with staggered tyres, AMG bodykit comprising from front, rear bumpers and side skirts, two visible big fat tailpipes, cross drilled disc brakes all round and brake calipers with 'Mercedes Benz' lettering front and rear. Oh, both get the Burmester Sound System with 13 speakers totaling 590W for you to blast Eminem from (
as if our towkays would do that lah). Interior AMG bits include wood and leather trimmed steering wheel, black high gloss poplar wood trim, brushed stainless steel sports pedals with rubber studs, AMG floor mats with AMG lettering. Oh, 455hp, 700Nm twin turbocharged 4,664cc V8. 0-100kmh in 4.8 seconds and limited to 250kmh. This is how we wanna roll.
Two fabulous variants to choose from. All you need is a million Ringgit. Time to put in some overtime folks.
