Xrobot Revo Lista - A Two Wheeled Electric Personal Transport that has just arrived in town

Last week I tried something which I don't normally try. This was something on two wheels and not a motorcycle or a bicycle. It was something called a Revo Lista, marketed here in Malaysia as the X-Robot Personal Transporter by a company that belongs to a pal of mine, SNCR Malaysia Sdn Bhd.

Now this two wheeled transport is an electric motorised single person transport. equipped with a system that allows ease of handling and maneuvering. It has a self balancing gyro allowing the darn thing to actually balance itself (and its pilot) on two wheels which are side by side instead of one behind the other like a motorcycle. This makes it pretty compact, with almost a zero turning circle.

It is also simple to pilot, you can either stand on it or sit on the small perch built into its frame. To get on it you hold the neck portion below the controls which basically signals the X-Robot to get on standby. Once you are aboard and both hands are on the controls, which may be a little nervy at first as you have got to trust in the self balancing system, you are set to go. You move forward by leaning forward, slow down and stop by pulling on the controls backward (which also acts as a reverse after it stops and you keep tugging on it). Turning left or right is simple as moving the controls left or right.

I had a go around the premises of SNCR located at Boulevard 10, Petaling Jaya with instructions by old pal Encik Mohammad Tajul Azman, CEO of SNCR Malaysia Sdn Bhd. It was pretty fun actually. One can speed up slops and ramps too (up to a certain gradient of course) and up to 20km/h (limited). Anything motorised is fun, isn't it?

Now some may ask how much does this toy cost? Quite a lot actually. According to  Tajul, the X-Robot costs a bomb at the moment (about the price of a Perodua Viva because of the taxs and excise duty of this fully imported, Made in China product) and the company is targeting for government agencies as well as large corporations for use by security personnel or staff to cover a large area. If there is more demand, the price could be lower.

He mentioned security personnel covering large areas like warehouses, shopping complexes, government buildings could use the X-Robot to quickly and conveniently transport personnel from one end of a long building or area to another. It could also be used as a mobile advertising billboard (with a display board up front) for use by advertising companies during roadshows and tours in urban shopping areas and also suitable to follow a group of flash mobs during advertising campaigns.  I would buy this if I had personnel to cover large spaces everyday. At least they get to travel in a fun way whilst doing work.

He also mentioned that while this X-Robot is similar in nature to some other two wheeled transport which utilises gyros, this one differs because it allows the flexibility of the user to sit down on it instead of just stand up straight on it. It also comes with fatter tyres too.

Annother question that was asked by Yours Truly was that since the darn thing costs a bomb, how can anyone get to ride one? Aside from a few now operated by the Langkawi Development Authority over in Langkawi there are plans by SNCR to actually provided guided rides somewhere within the Klang Valley and / or Putrajaya.

Tajul will keep me informed on further developments.on where the rides could be based as well as on the latest price of the X-Robot, which he says could be brought down if there is demand for it from government agencies and large corporations.

Those interested in this product can contact Tajul directly via the following email - ttjayze@gmail.com.
