Soon, because we should be getting this in about three months time as Mercedes-Benz Malaysia are locally assembling it over in Pekan Pahang versus the one you are seeing in the pics – just recently launched in Singapore in its imported form. Prices are estimated from RM 389,000 / Estimated from RM 399,000 when it launches in a few months time. Oh, both variants are only on the styling packages - both feature the same performance figures but the differences is whether you buy the less sporty looking AVANTGARDE or the sportier looking AMG Line variant is all.
Anyway, the new GLC electric had its global launched in 2025 at the Munich Auto Show. It sits on Mercedes-Benz's MB.EA platform and it is not similar to the internal combustion engine GLC. A different platform even though it actually looks the same as the X/C254 you already are familiar with here on Malaysian roads. You can only tell if you are actually a fan aside from the fully covered up grille which actually has many individual illuminated LED lights differentiating from the ICE variants which need an open grille to cool the engine bits more than an EV needs to. It is actually good that it looks like any GLC, whether it comes with an internal combustion engine or something else. Mercedes-Benz has realised that familiarity throughout the whole range is actually the way to go in terms of styling.
In short, the all-new electric GLC reimagines Mercedes-Benz’s globally best-selling model with a purpose-developed electric architecture. It features a longer wheelbase (2972mm VS 2,888mm for the ICE version) which creates more room for occupants, complemented by a 570-litre rear boot, 1,740 litres with the rear seats folded and a 128-litre front luggage compartment. The overall looks and dimensions of this new GLC is tasteful, even with it now having many three pointed stars here and there - even the light designs (at the rear).
The dashboard is basically all digital displays. There are bits of piano black bits surrounding the circular vents at the sides but this is essentially an all screen dashboard. The tech age has come a plenty and you now have to get bits of leather, and other material on the top of the dashboard and on the center console. The rest seem as always, but you can see, it is all infotainment here these days.

It is offered in two distinct variants: the Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 4MATIC electric AVANTGARDE and the Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 4MATIC electric AMG Line Plus. The iconic grille defines the striking, self-confident front. The 20-inch multi-spoke light-alloy wheels on the AVANTGARDE and the 21-inch AMG multi-spoke light alloy wheels on the AMG Line Plus give the vehicle a powerful stance. Analogue luxury meets digital elegance with the all-new seamless MBUX HYPERSCREEN
The interior elevates the Mercedes-Benz design philosophy of Sensual Purity to a new level: modern elegance meets digital sophistication paired with an immersive spatial experience. The seamlessly integrated trim sculpture combines the instrument panel and centre console into a harmonious whole and embodies analogue luxury.
At the same time, it sets the stage for the majestically floating all-new seamless MBUX HYPERSCREEN, which stretches across the entire width of the interior. With a screen size of 99.3 centimetres (39.1 inches), it brings the digital world of MercedesBenz into the cockpit of the all-new electric GLC. The ambient lighting perfectly sets the scene for the floating effect and emphasises the futuristic impression.
Atmospherically appealing styles can be selected as background motifs via a dedicated app, amplifying the expansive screen's distinctive effect. Mercedes-Benz UI designers have crafted these high-resolution welcome animations with meticulous attention to detail. The striking background images offer a wide range from calm to intense, from cool to warm, and from technical to emotional. This allows users to create a personalised vehicle ambiance. The colouring of the instrument cluster including dials and gauges as well as the ambient lighting are coordinated with these emotional motifs.
Ambient lighting takes centre stage in the all-new electric GLC. A light strip on the uppermost level of the instrument panel frames the interior and illuminates the generous expanse of space. It also unites the instrument panel with the doors in a seamless, luxurious ensemble. The ambient lighting for the SKY CONTROL panoramic roof with switchable glass surface also contributes to the harmonious, luxurious overall experience. Its pattern is integrated into the overall design concept, ensuring the stars are colour-matched accordingly.
Large decorative sculpture merges centre console and instrument panel
With a dynamic sweep, a large trim piece connects the centre console with the instrument panel, merging the two into one. The floating effect is further emphasised by the cleverly integrated ambient lighting on the lower edge of the trim piece. The AVANTGARDE features brown open-pore fineline birch wood trim, while the AMG Line Plus is appointed with black / silver metallic mixed-fabric trim.
The centre console houses up to two charging trays for inductive and rapid smartphone charging. Behind them is the newly designed control strip with hard keys, including one for the hazard warning lights. Also responding to customer requests, the cupholders are now spatially separated from the charging trays. The galvanised air vents feature a tech aesthetic that blends analogue and digital worlds. When the temperature is adjusted in the THERMATIC automatic climate control, this is indicated through a brief colour change of the ambient lighting and in the air vents.
The speaker grilles integrate seamlessly into the design and are finished to a high standard. For the first time, Mercedes-Benz has employed a horizontal line graphic with 3D relief and two-tone finish on these grilles. In the Burmester® 3D surround sound system, the grilles are even made of stainless steel.
The switch for electric seat adjustment in the doors, the iconic miniature, has been refined and offers impressive ergonomics and aesthetics. The same applies to the high-quality covered rear surfaces of the headrests in the integral seats.
Driving style meets lifestyle
The all-new electric GLC offers a curated selection of exquisite materials, creating an exceptionally high- quality interior within its class. The AVANTGARDE line features comfort seats in a choice of two leather upholstery options: black or beech brown / black. The AMG Line Plus is equipped with the AMG Line Sports Seat Package, featuring black leather upholstery with contrasting red topstitching.
Both the comfort and sports seats are crafted using a sophisticated one-piece manufacturing process and feature double stitching across the seat inserts, accentuated by high-contrast yarns for a distinctive finish. Heat and noise-insulating acoustic glass further enhances comfort by creating a quieter, more refined cabin environment.
Space for every journey
With a wheelbase of 2,972 millimetres – eight centimetres longer than the combustion-engine GLC – the all-new model ensures even more generous space and a high level of seating comfort. Front and rear passengers gain an extra 13 millimetres and 47 millimetres of legroom, respectively. Headroom increases by 46 millimetres at the front and 17 millimetres at the rear.
GLC drivers have no space worries when it comes to luggage storage either: the rear boot offers a generous 570 litres of capacity, expanding to 1,740 litres with the backrest folded down. A further 128 litres is available in the front luggage compartment (frunk), easily accommodating, for example, a drinks crate. The frunk lid opens at the touch of the Mercedes-Benz star. For safety, only the retaining hooks then need unlocking via a central handle.
This detail is just as practical in the rear boot with the Boot Comfort Package: the loading floor can be lowered by 80 millimetres, making it possible to transport taller objects. The rear seat backrest can be folded electrically in a 40:20:40 ratio and a load compartment roller blind is included.
In addition to ECO, COMFORT, SPORT, and INDIVIDUAL, the all-new electric GLC offers another driving programme: TERRAIN for dirt or gravel roads. In this mode, the front axle of the 4MATIC is automatically engaged and the system adjusts the characteristics of the drivetrain, steering, and brakes. If equipped with DIGITAL LIGHT, the off-road light is activated. Wide illumination then ensures that the driver can detect obstacles more quickly.
The “transparent bonnet” function, in conjunction with MB.DRIVE PARKING ASSIST 360 1 (1 Our driver assistance and safety systems are aids and do not relieve you of your responsibility as the driver. Please take note of the in-formation in the Owner\s Manual and the system limits which are described therein), provides a virtual view beneath the front of the vehicle. For the camera view in the central display, the all-new electric GLC combines the images from the front camera and the two exterior mirror cameras. A trajectory overlay helps to select the optimum driving path.

The Mercedes-Benz operating system (MB.OS) transforms the all-new electric GLC into an intelligent companion that thinks, learns, and evolves with its driver.
High-tech perfection: the all-new MBUX seamless HYPERSCREEN
The all-new seamless 99.3-centimetre (39.1-inch) MBUX HYPERSCREEN is the largest display unit from Mercedes Benz to date. It boasts exceptional clarity thanks to high resolution and innovative matrix backlight technology with over 1,000 individual LEDs. Zone dimming allows simultaneous adjustment of two display areas via sliders. Mercedes Benz has filed a patent for this groundbreaking technology.
State-of-the-art high-performance chips and real-time graphics from the Unity Game Engine control the screens. The operating and display concept is tailored not only to the vehicle, but also to individual customer preferences following the design principle of reduction to the essentials. The enhanced MBUX Zero Layer shows the most important information, suggestions, and most recently used apps. In the app grid, apps can be moved and grouped into individually named folders, similar to a smartphone. When an app is open, a simple swipe to the left returns to the app grid. Another swipe takes the user back to the Zero Layer. Alternatively, they can still go directly to the Zero Layer at any time via the home button.
MercedesBenz uses a special algorithm in the graphics driver software to improve the readability of the displays in sunlight.
Artificial intelligence makes the fourth MBUX generation even smarter
The fourth generation of the proven and popular infotainment system MercedesBenz User Experience (MBUX) opens up a new world of personalised experience and intuitive interaction between humans and vehicles. The new MBUX generation is the world’s first in-car infotainment system to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) from both Microsoft and Google.
The highlights of the new MBUX generation include the new user interface with redesigned welcome animations and the enhanced Zero Layer, an extensive range of apps, the MBUX Virtual Assistant with different avatars and generative AI, navigation with Google Maps, and MBUX Augmented Reality Navigation.
The MBUX Virtual Assistant with “Multi Agent Approach”: intelligent, easy to talk to and empathetic
With generative AI, the new MBUX Virtual Assistant revolutionises the relationship between vehicle and driver. It represents the next evolutionary step of the MBUX voice assistant and goes far beyond responding to commands. The MBUX Virtual Assistant enables complex, multi-turn conversations – like you have with a friend – and has short-term memory. This is possible thanks to the so-called “Multi Agent Approach”. Depending on the context – whether navigation or POI-related questions or knowledge questions – the system accesses different sources within the same conversation. Multiple agents thus combine the collective knowledge from the internet and answer the request autonomously. Of course, customers don’t notice which agent is currently active in the background. The MBUX Virtual Assistant can maintain context. This means that users can continue conversations and retrieve information during their journey. The MBUX Virtual Assistant is activated with the familiar keyword “Hey Mercedes”.
ChatGPT and Microsoft Bing Search operate as agents in the knowledge area, so they can answer questions like: “Hey Mercedes, which restaurant in Kuala Lumpur offers good food?” and “Oh, and what should I have there if I enjoy spicy food?”. Users can speak naturally without having to think about specific formulations. For example, the virtual assistant responds to questions like “Hey Mercedes, what is a black hole? Explain it so that children can understand.”.
Thanks to Google Cloud's Automotive AI Agent, the MBUX Virtual Assistant is also well-versed in navigation-related questions. The agent was developed with Gemini via Vertex AI and is specially tailored to the automotive industry. It can access information from the Google Maps platform to provide users with personalised answers to questions about navigation, points of interest and much more. For example, it can respond with suggestions to the following question: “Hey Mercedes, I have an appointment today after visiting the IAA. Do you have any ideas for something special to do around here?” The third agent is the car expert. It is well-versed in questions about the user’s own vehicle and can therefore assist with queries such as: “Can I charge my car at the electrical outlet at home?”
The virtual assistant is always present on the Zero Layer as a “living” avatar in the form of the MercedesBenz star. In the default setting, it is blue or silvery blue with AMG Line. The colours in the avatar represent the emotions of the Virtual Assistant. For example, it reacts positively to “thank you” (green) or shows joy when telling a joke (colourful). With various animations, the virtual assistant also signals whether it is currently speaking, listening or processing information. Movement, brightness, intensity and colour interact seamlessly to communicate intuitively with the driver.
In addition to the star avatar, there are two new representations of intelligence: the first is a human-like avatar, which emerges from a condensing cloud of stars. It embodies intelligence in a technologically futuristic way. The second new avatar, nicknamed LittleBenz, with its expressive face, allows for an even stronger connection on a personal level. Its lively form invites inspiring interaction.
SKY CONTROL panoramic roof: fascinating world of light and shade with illuminated starry sky at night The large, one-piece panoramic roof creates a more open interior, with an almost uninterrupted view of the sky. Its glass surface can switch between transparent and opaque, allowing occupants to shape the light and atmosphere within the cabin. The SKY CONTROL panoramic roof is divided into nine individually adjustable segments, giving occupants precise control over how much light enters different areas of the interior.
For protection against solar radiation, the glass surface consists of heat-insulating laminated safety glass, equipped with an infrared-reflecting coating as well as an ultra-thin Low-Emissivity (LowE) coating on the inside. This reduces heating of the interior in warmer conditions. In cooler weather, the LowE coating reduces heat loss by reflecting the interior heat back into the cabin.
The all-new electric GLC drivers can change the transparency of the glass roof via a menu in the vehicle settings in the head unit, where a roof symbol with the nine segments is displayed. The segments can be selected individually to create a bespoke pattern. Alternatively, there are three predefined settings: “clear”, “opal” (opaque) and “Motif”, the latter being a striped pattern. Frequent users can also access this function quickly via the Zero Layer or by saying “Hey Mercedes, make the roof transparent” or “Hey Mercedes, show me the stars”. If the opal/clear softkey is used or the roof is completely opened or closed using voice control, the system starts with a roller blind-like scene lasting around six seconds.
This so-called PDLC technology (Polymer-Dispersed Liquid Crystal) works by sandwiching a liquid containing microcrystals between two glass panes. When voltage is applied, the crystals align uniformly and render the surface transparent. When the power supply is interrupted, the crystals return to a random orientation. The glass then becomes opaque and provides better glare protection from direct sunlight.
Ambient lighting is also available for the SKY CONTROL panoramic roof with switchable glass. It creates a wow effect at night thanks to 162 stars, which are integrated into the glass surface and can be illuminated to produce a unique brand-style motif. The stars can glow in any of 64 individual colours or match the chosen ambient lighting colour world. The stars are printed on a medium in the glass, while the light is fed in via LED modules on both sides of the roof. Operation is via the ambient lighting menu.
Impressive staging: the all-new electric GLC welcomes its driver like a trusted friend
The all-new electric GLC greets its driver with an extensive, holistically orchestrated “welcome” greeting. On the outside, this includes animations on the panel of the iconic grille and in the taillights, while the aura sound of the selected Sound Experience plays simultaneously. On the inside, an emotional welcome is provided by the ambient lighting and the newly designed animations on the MBUX HYPERSCREEN.
When the all-new electric GLC is parked, a corresponding “goodbye” presentation starts. This is part of the overall staging of the vehicle. It consists of several coordinated functions and is enabled by MB.OS.
The technology also offers very practical advantages. Even before the driver gets into the all-new electric GLC, they can pre-activate their own profile with the vehicle key after which face ID authentication is then possible. The Easy-Entry function is also automatically activated; the seat is then moved into the driving position and the user profile is loaded. The personal settings include, for example, navigation history or favourite entertainment apps. The system also offers quick access to the most recently used apps and makes suggestions based on the user’s habits.
The front passenger can also be authenticated in the all-new electric GLC using facial recognition. The system automatically loads the corresponding user profile for the front passenger if a display is installed.
The AVANTGARDE features ambient lighting with projection of the brand logo, while the AMG Line Plus adds surround lighting with an animated projection of the Mercedes-Benz pattern.
Comprehensive entertainment offering 2 makes every drive a special experience
Currently, over 40 apps 3 can be installed across categories including audio, video, productivity, and
entertainment. The portfolio is constantly expanding. For the first time, user-specific app folders can be created. Favourite apps can also be organised separately for the front area. Video streaming is available on all screens when the car is parked 4 . This option is still available to the front passenger while driving.
The in-car app store provides access to various video conferencing apps. This includes a new version of the “Meetings for Teams” app, which takes productivity in the car to a new level. It allows drivers to use the camera in the car while driving, so that other participants can see them during a meeting. Since Mercedes-Benz emphasises safety, the use of the camera complies with the laws of the respective country and has been approved for use while driving. To minimise distraction and maximise safety while driving, the meeting video automatically turns off as soon as the camera is activated. Drivers therefore do not see shared screens or slides – and the camera can be turned off at any time. Disney+, the leading streaming service for family entertainment, is also directly accessible in over 40 countries via the all-new electric GLC;s MBUX infotainment system.
Only the Digital Extra MBUXEntertainment and an active Disney+ subscription are required. Whether on long journeys or daily commutes, passengers can immerse themselves in an extensive library of Disney classics, Marvel adventures, Star Wars sagas, Pixar animations and National Geographic documentaries. Music becomes tangible and visible
Dolby Atmos can now also be heard via Apple CarPlay, not just as before with the natively integrated apps. The experience quality of Dolby Atmos has also been further enhanced with stronger three- dimensional sound and more localised audio reproduction especially for rear-seat passengers. Dolby Atmos content 5 is transmitted to the loudspeaker system in the all-new electric GLC with even higher resolution.
Holistic “Sound Experience” with personalised acoustic setups
Mercedes-Benz offers a holistic “Sound Experience”. Various sound worlds enable personalised acoustic setups for informative feedback sounds and emotional sound enhancement. The sound worlds can now be conveniently selected as an app in the app grid. The range comprises “Silver Waves”, “Vivid Flux”, “Serene Breeze”, and “Roaring Pulse” (AMG Line) as well as these two new sound worlds:
“Fractal Fusion” embodies a hedonistic, futuristic lifestyle, blending nostalgic 1980s arcade-gametones and synthwave music with modern, vibrant synth textures.
“Granular Fuzz” offers an expressive, organic style that emphasises individualism and adventurousness, combining fat guitar riffs, epic orchestral soundtrack elements, nature samples and expansive electronic effects.
The “Sound Experience” is active even when stationary. The startup, shutdown, and welcome sounds in the interior are stylistically variable. Locking and unlocking are accompanied by a specific sound and the aura sound carpet. There is even a charging-plug tone to confirm correct connection and disconnection from the charger. Once the vehicle is ready to move, simulated “revs” can be generated at standstill via the accelerator pedal. The “Sound Experience” maximally utilises the spatial distribution of all installed speakers. Informative sounds such as the tailgate warning tone or parking assistance tones 6 are also stylistically varied with the sound world and played through the high-quality speaker systems.
The Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System (AVAS) for pedestrian protection in external areas can be adjusted to two levels: discreet (law-compliant, minimal external sound) and characterful (elegant-dynamic, expressive external driving sound). Instead of a purely technical warning noise, the vehicle uses a carefully crafted and high-quality driving sound.

Smooth: Perfect blend of long-distance comfort and sporty agility
The Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 4MATIC electric combines high efficiency with great driving pleasure and excellent performance. With an output of 310 kW, it reaches a top speed of 210 km/h and offers a range of up to 616 kilometres according to WLTP.
Its comfort suspension adapts confidently to varying driving conditions. The passive damping system continuously and automatically adjusts the ride characteristics, damping and stabilisation to suit the road surface, ensuring a smooth and composed driving experience on every journey.
Electric drive unit: powerful, efficient, and exceptionally quiet
The drivetrain architecture includes a two-speed gearbox at the rear, combining dynamism with efficiency. The first gear has a short ratio of 11:1, enabling excellent acceleration right from the start, a high towing capacity and great efficiency even in urban traffic. The second gear (ratio 5:1) is designed for power delivery at high speeds and high efficiency on the motorway providing outstanding long-distance comfort.
The top speed is also achieved in the second gear. The shift points depend on the driving situation and the selected driving programme.
Mercedes-Benz developed the electric drive unit, with its permanently excited synchronous machine (PSM) at the rear, entirely in-house. Battery-to-wheel efficiency over long distances is 93 percent.
The all-wheel drive models also feature a powerful drive unit at the front, which engages or disengages a disconnect unit (DCU) almost instantly when required. For particularly efficient energy utilisation, both drive units are equipped with high-performance power electronics with silicon carbide inverters.
In addition to an extremely rigid bodyshell, extensive sound insulation from the front structure to the rear section as well as decoupling elastomer mounts between suspension and body contribute to outstanding noise and vibration comfort. The drive units feature rotor magnets arranged in a double-V configuration, with stator windings using so-called chorded coils. Both measures deliver exceptionally quiet yet efficient propulsion.
Rapid charging: recharge up to 255 kilometres in just ten minutes
One of the highlights of the new electric architecture is the 800-volt system. It maximises efficiency and performance and can significantly reduce the charging time in conjunction with the new battery generation.
A range of up to 255 – 215 km can be recharged within 10 minutes according to WLTP. DC fast charging is supported at up to 320 kW, while the on-board AC charger enables charging at up to 22 kW. An electric socket flap further enhances charging convenience.
The all-new electric GLC uses a lithium-ion battery with a usable energy content of 85 kWh. The cells have anodes in which silicon oxide is mixed with graphite. The volumetric energy density of the cell chemistry is 680 Wh/l. The proportion of cobalt has been further reduced. The new battery generation has not only been optimised for efficiency, performance, costs and scalability, but was also developed with maintenance and repair in mind. The electronics/electrical unit is accessible and replaceable from below in the workshop. This enables quick diagnosis and, if required, targeted replacement of electronic components – without dismantling the entire battery unit. Additionally, the battery cover is screwed rather than glued. This design results in a clear advantage: The battery remains modular and service-friendly – a decisive factor for the long-term operation of electrified vehicle fleets.
The high-voltage battery used in the all-new electric GLC is based on an intelligent modular and highly integrated battery architecture that was introduced with the all-new electric CLA. This architecture developed by MercedesBenz allows the flexible deployment of high-voltage batteries for different vehicle types. This consistent modularisation reduces validation effort and creates significant synergies in development, validation and logistics. Another advantage is that the modular battery architecture enables highly flexible manufacturing. High-voltage batteries for the electric CLA and electric GLC and future high- voltage batteries based on this architecture can be manufactured on the same production line.
Confident brake-pedal feel and excellent recuperation performance
The all-new electric GLC features a new One-Box braking system. It ensures a consistent, confident and transparent brake-pedal feel at all times, regardless of whether braking is performed by recuperation or friction braking. The brake system combines the previously separate components of brake booster, master cylinder, and ESP® control in a single compact module.
For reasons of efficiency, almost all braking is carried out via recuperation. Recuperation power is up to approximately 300 kW, allowing the all-new electric GLC to brake electrically to a standstill and recover kinetic energy. Drivers have four recuperation levels available: D- (maximum recuperation level), D (standard recuperation), D+ (no recuperation) and D Auto (intelligent recuperation). Recuperation via the brake pedal is always active.
In D-, drivers can enjoy a “one-pedal feeling”. When they take their foot off the accelerator pedal, the vehicle decelerates purely electrically and with up to 3 m/s² with sufficient force that the hydraulic brake system is not needed in over 99 percent of cases. The strong deceleration means more recovered energy and thus ultimately a longer range. Even in winter road conditions, recuperation is possible.
The all-new GLC - safety and comfort in perfect harmony
The all-new electric GLC comes with extensive safety equipment and the Distance Assist DISTRONIC. Technical details include up to ten cameras, five radar sensors, twelve ultrasonic sensors and a water-cooled high-performance computer with sufficient power reserves for future functions and regular over-the- air updates. An MBUX dashcam provides added peace of mind on every journey.
Mercedes-Benz bundles additional comfort assistance functions 7 under the name MB.DRIVE. The following Digital Extras 8 are included:
MB.DRIVE ASSIST: Offers significantly more comfort by complementing Distance Assist DISTRONIC with Steering Assist, giving the all-new electric GLC a state-of-the-art SAE Level 2driving assistance system. Steering Assist helps to keep the vehicle centred in its lane and by operating the indicator stalk, Lane Change Assist can also facilitate lane changes
MB.DRIVE PARKING ASSIST 360 9 : In addition to the scope of MB.DRIVE PARKING ASSIST, the 360-degree camera delivers new and enhanced surround-view displays.
Intuitive operation: the new steering wheel brings back the rocker and roller
The new steering wheel of the all-new electric GLC offers improved ergonomics and even better intuitive control thanks to the combination of haptic and capacitive elements. MercedesBenz has reintroduced a rocker switch for the speed limiter and DISTRONIC, along with a roller switch for volume control. The capacitive switch panels are seamlessly integrated and provide haptic tactile aids for better orientation. In addition, some functions have been removed from the control panel for a better overview and ease of use. As a result, the finger pad to control the driver display has been made significantly larger and is therefore easier to use.

Extensive safety equipment
The safety concept for the all-new electric GLC is based on an intelligently engineered bodyshell with an exceptionally rigid passenger cell. Crash structures made from a variety of steel alloys are designed to deform in a controlled manner, while the restraint systems – seat belts and up to eleven airbags – are precisely calibrated to this structure. In the event of a collision, systems for situation-specific occupant protection can be activated. These include the centre airbag, which serves to avoid injuries caused by interaction between the driver and passenger in the event of a side-on collision. A knee bag is now also available for the passenger complemented by sidebags in the rear.
With PRE-SAFE®, MercedesBenz vehicles can react to hazards before an accident occurs. Its functions include closing the windows and sunroof in critical situations before a potential impact, pre-tensioning the seat belts with reversible belt tensioners, or, if the passenger seat is equipped with memory, moving it into a more upright position.
New high-end seats for even greater comfortThe new seats transform every journey into a relaxing experience and ensure that driver and passengers arrive refreshed, even after many kilometres. All seats are certified with the German AGR seal from “Aktion Gesunder Rücken” (Organisation for Healthy Backs). Comfort and sports seats are now more clearly differentiated: the sports seat in integral-seat style features higher side-bolsters for enhanced lateral support. Both seat types incorporate secondary materials throughout their construction – the seat foam contains around 30 percent recycled content using the mass-balance approach.
Emotional Modes: for a moment of reflectionA crackling campfire, impressively staged on the large display of the all-new seamless MBUX
HYPERSCREEN, or a lively aquarium with darting fish and circling sharks – in the all-new electric GLC, for the first time, Emotional Modes can be selected when the vehicle is stationary. Here, too, it offers a holistic experience by activating vehicle functions relevant to the chosen Emotional Mode (for example, heating with the open-fire mode).
MB.CHARGE Public: integrated digital charging service
With the digital extra MB.CHARGE Public, Mercedes-Benz bundles all public charging functions and offer customers numerous exclusive benefits. With just one charging contract 10 , they have access to one of the largest charging networks in the world and can charge in the usual user-friendly way. In the all-new electric GLC, authentication at the charging stations takes place via the MercedesBenz app. Each charging process is automatically billed via MB.CHARGE Public. MercedesBenz also makes maximum cost transparency at public charging stations possible. Before charging, users can view the specific costs per kilowatt hour or per minute as well as the expected total costs for a full charge on the MBUX display or in he Mercedes-Benz app.

Convenient reservation of charging stations and intelligent navigation
Mercedes-Benz Navigation with Electric Intelligence plans the fastest and most comfortable route –including charging stops – based on numerous factors. It reacts dynamically, for example, to traffic jams or changes in driving style. MercedesBenz is also continuously refining the energy-usage forecast for Navigation with Electric Intelligence so that predicted wind conditions along the route will, in future, be accounted for even more precisely according to vehicle height.
When calculating a route, the system computes the energy requirement by considering topography, routeprofile, ambient temperature, speed and heating/cooling demand. Additional factors include traffic along the planned route, as well as available charging stations and their charging capacity as well as payment options. As a new feature, the energy prediction also considers additional weather information such as precipitation amounts and snow on the road. The calculation takes place in the cloud and is combined with onboard data.
The intelligent navigation detects when a charging stop is required and plans it automatically to optimise overall journey time – for instance, two shorter stops at higher power can sometimes be more advantageous than one longer stop. Moreover, Navigation with Electric Intelligence automatically adjusts the vehicle’s charging settings for maximum rapid-charging performance along the route – including pre-conditioning the high-voltage battery so that it reaches its ideal temperature for fast DC charging at exactly the right moment. Last-minute travellers can manually activate preconditioning.
Production at the Mercedes-Benz Bremen plant
Core segment models based on the new electric architecture will be built highly flexibly and net-carbon neutrally 15 within the global Mercedes-Benz production network. In addition to Bremen, vehicles of this segment will also be produced in Kecskemét, Hungary, and at Beijing Benz Automotive Co., Ltd (BBAC) in China. All plants are integrated into the digital production ecosystem MO360, which is increasingly evolving into a highly dynamic, AI-focused operating system for production. For the first time, humanoid robots will also be used in the network. With the help of a digital twin, the plants are prepared and converted for the production of the new models highly efficiently and in a short time. The Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS), which is being used for the first time in the production of the new CLA, will be rolled out to further production lines with upcoming production launches.
The all-new electric GLC will be flexibly produced on the same line as vehicles with conventional drivetrains at the Bremen plant. The assembly of the all-new electric GLC takes place in Hall 9, the largest production hall at the Bremen plant. Production is net carbon-neutral 11 . The plant is supplied with 100 percent green electricity. Several MercedesBenz locations supply the production of the all-new electric GLC in Bremen. Electric drive units come from the Romanian plant Sebes (Star Assembly SRL), the electric axles from the Hamburg plant, and the batteries from Kamenz (Accumotive GmbH Co. KG).
Major progress in decarbonising the supply chain
By implementing specific carbon reduction measures in the supply chain and during battery charging, carbon savings continuously improve. The all-new electric GLC achieves a two-thirds reduction in carbon footprint across its entire lifecycle compared to the current combustion-powered GLC. Mercedes-Benz is consistently implementing carbon reduction measures for the all-new electric GLC. The company already sources carbon-reduced aluminium for more than two-thirds of the vehicle’s aluminium requirements. In addition to the body and steering knuckles, the aluminium wheels and the battery, including its housing, are made from aluminium that has a carbon footprint reduced by at least 40 percent 12 compared to the conventional import mix. This is achieved by using both renewably generated electricity in the electrolysis process and a high proportion of recycled aluminium for production.
The carbon footprint of the new battery generation is also reduced by approximately 30 percent per cell compared to conventional production through carbon reduction measures in the high-voltage cell. In addition to net carbon-neutral 13 cell production, renewable energy is also used in the production of cathode, anode, and cell housing materials.
Resource conservation through the use of secondary materials
The Mercedes-Benz Group aims to increasingly decouple its resource consumption from the growth of its production output and minimise the consumption of primary resources. Plastics, steel, and aluminium are particularly important in this regard as they are required in large quantities in vehicle production and are particularly energy and resource intensive.
Mercedes-Benz Cars seeks to limit the amount of primary material and to increasingly reduce its
proportion by using secondary materials. For new MercedesBenz vehicles, such as the all-new electric GLC, the MercedesBenz Group stipulates a minimum proportion of recycled material per focus material in their specifications.
As early as the design phase, experts from the specialist departments consider the composition of the materials, analyse alternatives, use recycled materials wherever possible and focus on lightweight construction and recyclability. This results in vehicles being more resource efficient throughout their entire lifecycles. A variety of factors are considered when deciding on the use of materials. Alongside costs, resource-efficient technologies and the use of alternative materials such as secondary materials and renewable raw materials, this also includes industrialisation options. This involves examining the extent to which development results are transferable to large-scale industrial production, for example in the use of raw materials.
The result of these endeavours is the increased use of secondary materials and renewable raw materials on vehicles. One example of this is the seating system in the all-new electric GLC.
