Volvo Car Malaysia Extends Warranty to Five-years/Unlimited Mileage - Up from Three-years/100,000km Previously

Volvo Car Malaysia has IMPROVED on its manufacturer or factory warranty programme to a five-years/unlimited mileage warraty for all privately owned Volvo cars* registered from 1 January 2021onwards. Prior to this announcement, Volvo car owners were entitled to a three-year/100,000km factory warranty with a combined two-years/20,000km Extended Warranty Programme (EWP) provided by an external insurance partner.

We mostly know that external parties to any arrangement will usually be a little bit reluctant to do things even though its been legally contracted to them. So it is a very, very good thing that Volvo Car Malaysia is now going the internal route to customer aftersales in terms of warranty issues. So with the introduction of the extended factory warranty, customers will be able to enjoy a similar level of protection at no additional cost, fully covered under the five-years/unlimited mileage warranty. So much more peace of mind.

Nalin Jain, Managing Director of Volvo Car Malaysia explained further by saying, “This new offering is part of our dedication to quality, particularly in relation to our vehicles and customer relationship. At Volvo Car Malaysia, every decision we make is designed around the customer’s needs and more so to solidify their trust in Volvo. We want our customers to feel supported throughout the ownership of their vehicle and we believe that the new extended factory warranty is a step in the right direction as a premium car brand that is rooted in safety.”

According to Volvo Car Malaysia, the revision of this warranty period will give customers peace of mind for five years from the date the car is delivered. All new Volvo car owners can expect their cars to receive a premium service experience done by Volvo’s trained technicians.

If you have missed out some earlier bit of news (especially if you follow Motoring Malaysia regularly as seem to have taken a break from delivering you folks the news), in December 2020, Volvo Cars Malaysia had also announced that all customers who have purchased a Volvo Plug-in Hybrid Vehicle (PHEV) are entitled to an extended high voltage (HV) battery warranty period of up to eight-years or 160,000km (whichever comes first).

Through this extension in warranty, Volvo Car Malaysia will not only be extending its support of moving into a sustainable future but also ensures that customers remain confident in Volvo’s quality, long-life components. Basically, you can use your PHEV Volvo for a while longer without having that thought at the back of your mind that you may need a battery change before it is time to do so. It is actually quite a good move as you keep these cars on the road longer than usual.

Why do I say so? Well, first owners are usually never a problem with maintenance and being first adopters they will usually have the means to keep their cars in working condition for as long as they use it. These days, it could be usually between 4 to 8 years depending on the reliability of the car. So having an extended warranty usually covers all the needs of the first owner fully and maybe part of the needs of the subsequent owner.

“Our end goal of this initiative is to allow our valued customers to feel the utmost comfort when driving a Volvo car, free of worries. We allow them to fully experience the innovation and technology that goes into each one of our cars, and by doing so we are able to provide our customers with the freedom to move in a personal, sustainable and safe way,” concluded Nalin.

Note to readers *The new extended factory warranty is provided for privately owned vehicles only, and not applicable to vehicles registered or used for commercial purposes.
