If you have nothing to do this weekend, there will activities, film and music awaits you folks out there at the BMW Shorties Film Festival. It will be held this 15th December at the Tiffin Food Court, Petaling Jaya. The event, whilst not a motoring event per se is what BMW Group does as part of how they give back to a society where they are based at. So here, BMW gives back by inculcating filmmaking here in Malaysia.
This year, BMW Shorties celebrates 12 years of driving local filmmaking talent and digital content creators. The BMW Shorties Film Festival 2018 will see one of the finalists of BMW Shorties 2018 crowned as the Grand Prize Winner, along with winners of the supporting categories, including the ever- popular People’s Choice Award. The awards ceremony will be hosted by Adam Izzy and the Festival will also play host to a screening of the Finalists’ short films as well as a panel discussion on ‘Storytelling for Today’s Audience’.
Adding to the festivities, the cast and crew of GUANG, BMW Shorties 2011 Grand Prize Winner Quek Shio Chuan, will also be present at the Festival for a special meet-and-greet with fellow fans and film lovers. It could be time for any of you budding filmmakers to mix and mingle with industry people and get some insights from them. You may actually find out whether or not such a career suits you. Of course, you could just head over there for some fun and not take things so seriously lah.
Other notables include the music, food and also art. Headlining the music roster for the BMW Shorties Film Festival 2018 are bands RYÖTJONES, Billie Blue & The Nowhere Men, and Jaggfuzzbeats; with Visual Art installations by Filamen, Malaysia’s creative technology arts collective, and live-sketching sessions by KL Sketch Nation. Food at the festival will be courtesy of Aiden Picnic, Beard Brothers’ Deli, The Bowls, Ground Control, and ChaatWaala, with beverages from Pernod Ricard and Sjora. You won't go hungry...if you bring some money with you that is.
Other than that, those who attend will also stand a chance to win a wide range of goodies, including the exclusive Limited-Edition BMW Shor-tees T-shirt, with the winning design from the BMW ‘Shor-
Tees’ contest held earlier this year. There will also be other stuff from Dockers and Levi’s up for grabs.
