So recently a few of us motoring media fellas met up with the folks from Goodyear Malaysia. Aside from meeting the people now in charge of marketing and having the usual small talk, chit chat and stuff, they also informed us on the arrival of the Goodyear Assurance TripleMax 2 tyre. This is a tyre designed for the mid-range passenger car segment and it actually replaces the long running Goodyear NCT5 tyre here in Malaysia. When I say long running, the NCT5 is super long running as I remember actually using this tyre sometime in the early 2000s or even earlier!

Anyway, the new (in Malaysia) Goodyear Assurance TripleMax 2 tyre (or if you are American, 'tire') was launched here in conjunction with Goodyear’s 120th anniversary. The Assurance TripleMax was first launched in 2013 and has won the trust of major car manufacturers and consumers across the world. So while it has been a household name (in automotive terms) globally, it actually replaces the household name here - the NCT5, which most cost conscious motorists here have come to use and recognise.
When asked, the good folks at Goodyear stated that while the NCT5 has had its tyre compound upgraded over the years it was in production, it is time for a total break. So the Assurance TripleMax 2 is the new mid-sized, mid-range, mid-passenger car sized tyre that is now sold by Goodyear Malaysia. You could think of it as the new NCT6....
It's not, as the Assurance TripleMax 2 and it officially replaces the NCT5 in Goodyear's tyre line-up.
Since it is a new tyre, it has been designed to meet the rising demands from both their tyre dealer / distributors and customers. The Assurance TripleMax 2 is designed to improve the safety and durability of the tyres. In addition, it has been optimized for excellent grip performance with short braking distance especially under wet road conditions, enabling drivers to stop faster and drive safer. All this from what has to cover a wide range of vehicle models and price points.
The Goodyear Assurance TripleMax 2 is now available for purchase and fitting in almost 200 Goodyear Autocare outlets throughout Malaysia since November 2018.
Other than the above, we have been told to expect a new product in the high up tyre category sometime during the second part of next year. So 2019 could be a busy year for Goodyear Malaysia, with this new mid-range tyre and another UHP tyre later on in the year.
