Konsortium E-Mutiara Berhad Adopts The Scania Ecolution Program to Help Reduce CO2 Emissions & Fuel Consumption For The Well Being of the Environment

Konsortium E-Mutiara Berhad (E-Mutiara), one of the more notable express bus operators in Malaysia has become the first company in the whole of Asia to adopt the Scania Ecolution program. According to the folks at Scania Malaysia, Scania Ecolution is more than just a product or service. They call it a tailor-made partnership between Scania and operators of Scania vehicles that is designed to reduce CO 2 emissions and reduce fuel consumption for the well being of the environment.

Scania has always been championing holistic and sustainable transport solutions. So by applying a suite of Scania’s total solutions which are part of the Scania Ecolution program, a transport company’s sustainability commitment also gets a boost to meet the demand of consumers today for more responsible practices that add to the constant pressures on fleet operators for just-in- time deliveries and tight profit margins.

According to Scania Southeast Asia Managing Director, Marie Sjödin Enström, “Scania Ecolution will facilitate the shift towards a sustainable transport system for transport companies whether it is transporting goods or people. It is a competitive industry that is increasingly focusing on sustainability.”

With long term goals in mind, E-Mutiara has basically agreed to work with a dedicated Scania Ecolution Manager who will monitor the progress and choose from our wide range of solutions to achieve the mutually agreed emission reduction target to achieve its sustainability goals and profitability in the long term.

E-Mutiara, which has their headquarters in Kota Bharu is not new to Scania's systems and programmes. They have subscribed to Scania’s Fleet Management System, Scania Repair and Maintenance as well as Scania Driver Training and Coaching to enhance their own service offering and increase their productivity. The management has somehow seen the importance of new technologies and systems that will actually enhance their long term business model and also long term sustainability in the commercial transport industry.

“We are happy to be collaborating with Scania to achieve our mission of becoming a more sustainable business and reducing our carbon footprint. We believe that this will also be appreciated by our passengers, knowing that they are going green by choosing us for their journey,” said E-Mutiara Executive Chairman, Tuan Haji Che Ibrahim B. Che Ismail on the reason they chose to become a participant in Scania Ecolution.

We suppose that companies like E-Mutiara will be ready when the regulations pertaining to vehicle emissions get tighter here (it will eventually come as more people come to realise the importance of conserving the environment). Aside from that, E-Mutiara knows that working closely with their vehicle provider and their services will actually benefit their operations from so many factors - more uptime, less downtime together with driver coaching for efficient driving as well as efficient vehicle operating while also being more eco-friendly along the way.

“More needs to be done to lower emissions globally to reduce global warming and address climate change. Scania Ecolution is a solution on how profitability can be achieved without sacrificing sustainability. By working together, we can make it even better. E-Mutiara is truly at the forefront of change as they have always been and will continue innovate ways to provide the best experience for their customers while taking responsibility to reduce their carbon footprint.” added Marie during the signing ceremony of the MoU between the parties.

It is good to see another Malaysian company adopting best practices for the sake of the environment.
