Locally assembled Hyundai Tucson for the Malaysian market

Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) has rolled-out the locally assembled  (CKD) version of the Hyundai Tucson 2.0L, Hyundai’s mid-size SUV. As with other locally assembled Hyundai, the assembly is done at the Inokom plant located  in Kulim, Kedah.

Tucson NU 2.0 Sport

The Tucson, which made its worldwide debut in 2004, has been a worldwide success chalking up global sales of more than 2 million units. This is the second generation Tucson that has been around since 2009. The locally assembled second generation Tucson incorporates several upgraded features such as the LED Daytime Running Lights, and leather seats across all variants. It also maintains the 2.0liter 4 cylinder NU engine that delivers 158ps of horsepower at 6,200rpm. It is on average 10% cheaper than before.

Tucson NU 2.0 Elegance

The locally assembled Tucson is available in two variants namely: NU 2.0 Elegance – *RM115, 888 NU 2.0 Sport – *RM132, 888 *Pricing excludes insurance premium, road tax, registration fees and hire-purchase ownership; and applicable to Peninsular Malaysia only.

The CKD Hyundai Tucson is basically similar in specification to the facelifted and upgraded 2014 Tucson that I test drove earlier. The link to that article is here.

From RM115, 888, the Tucson is Now Priced 10% Lower Than its CBU Version

SHAH ALAM, 18 March 2015 – Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) has rolled-out the locally assembled version of the Tucson 2.0L, Hyundai’s mid-size SUV from Inokom’s plant in Kulim.  

The Tucson, which made its worldwide debut in 2004, has been a worldwide success chalking up global sales of more than 2 million units.  “The Tucson has been one of Hyundai’s more popular models and we have introduced this locally-assembled model to make it more accessible to all Malaysians,” said Mr Lau Yit Mun, Managing Director of Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors.  

The locally assembled Tucson incorporates several upgraded features such as the LED Daytime Running Lights, and leather seats across all variants. With no changes under the hood, the Tucson 2.0L maintains the 2.0 NU engine that delivers 158ps of horsepower at 6,200rpm.

Exciting colour options for the Tucson include Pure White, Titanium Grey, Hyper Metallic, Pepper Grey, and exclusive colours for the Sport variant are Remington Red, Phantom Black Sleek Silver and Platinum Silver.

The locally assembled Tucson is available in two variants namely:

NU 2.0 Elegance – *RM115, 888   

NU 2.0 Sport – *RM132, 888

HSDM offers a 5-year or 300,000km (whichever comes first) extended warranty on all its new passenger vehicles. A 24-hour road assist service is also now available to new and existing Hyundai vehicles.
