Yesterday, Chery Malaysia launched the all-new 2026 Chery TIGGO 9. THis is Chery's flagship SUV and is a close sibling to the Jaecoo Omoda J8 and the C9 SUVs. But the good news is that this is a 7 seat SUV that is priced lower than this Chery's JAECOO OMODA siblings. The Tiggo 9 will cost RM179,800 with a very comprehensive warranty and service early bird package and RM166,800 with a lesser package. Both prices are before insurance.
Chery Malaysia states that the Chery TIGGO 9 sets a new benchmark in the premium SUV segment. “The Chery TIGGO 9 is our new flagship, the largest in the TIGGO family offered in Malaysia. From its bold presence to its smooth, refined finishes, every detail has been thoughtfully designed to reflect confidence, sophistication, and modernity,” said Lee Wen Hsiang, Vice President of Chery Malaysia.
“The TIGGO 9 sets a new benchmark in what we call intelligent luxury—where advanced
technology, comfort, and innovation come together to create a truly elevated driving
experience,” added Mr Lee during the launch held at iconic Bangunan Sultan Abdul Samad, which was also graced by YB Sim Tze Tzin, Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry.
The Tiggo 9 SUV looks imposing. Its exterior looks like the Jaecoo Omoda J8 but it comes with a Chery front end. The interior seems to feel as luxurious but there are slightly lesser tech, in that there is no adaptive suspension systems like the higher priced J8. But it does allow you some savings of around rm10-15k and still gives you a whole lot of road presence.
In terms of its performance, it should be the same as the J8 which I have driven before. The performance of the 2.0L petrol turbo engine is more than adequate and should be able to hustle you along at a brisk pace. It is front wheel driven and power is transmitted through a 7 speed dual clutch transmission.
I believe that with the Tiggo 9, it offers interested customers an option for a large SUV at a reasonable price. It also shows Chery Malaysia's seriousness in investing in Malaysia as they have quite a complete line-up from the affordable smaller models sold and marketed as a Chery and up the this and all the way to the Jaecoo Omoda cars. Let's not forget the iCaur and Lepas models too.

strength steel, including 21% hot-pressed formed steel for enhanced rigidity and protection.
The SUV is equipped with 10 airbags, providing comprehensive protection for all occupants.
In addition, ADAS 2.5 delivers 23 advanced driver assistance features that support safer
driving in a wide range of scenarios.
Among these is the Automatic Park Assist system, which simplifies parking by enabling the
vehicle to steer itself into tight spaces with precision and ease.
