Yesterday, Isuzu Malaysia introduced the 2023 Isuzu D-Max range which has received a number of updates for the model year. Notable changes is the introduction of new body colours for the flagship 3.0liter X-Terrain and 3.0liter and 1.9liter Premium variants including a new Islay Gray Mica . Both variants also benefit from a new shade of white – Dolomite White Pearl which has a more lustrous sheen than the previous Silky PearlWhite. Now, there is also Biarritz Blue Metallic replacing the Sapphire Blue, available primarily with the Automatic Premium, 1.9liter Auto Plus and 1.9liter Automatic Standard variants.
Aside from the new colour options, there is a new radiator grille, rims and some refreshed body trim which help differentiate the 2023 model variants from the earlier ones. For the interior, the seats get a a new design and are finished in a stylish black for most of the variants on offer. The top of the range D-Max X-Terrain, the new-look seats have more contrast to the new Café Brown finish on many of its soft-touch surfaces.
Shunsuke Okazoe, Chief Executive Officer of Isuzu Malaysia.said, “The Isuzu D-Max has made tremendous inroads by being a highly innovative, sophisticated, safe and capable truck wrapped in a very handsome and modern design package. For 2023, we have taken it up a notch with a number of enhancements that will increase its appeal.”
In terms of its equipment, the X-Terrain now comes with more peace of mind in the form of a Digital Video Recorder capturing crisp footage from class-leading front and rear cameras. The front camera that is mounted neatly in the ADAS module captures amazingly clear 1440P videos while the rear records in high definition 1080P. Videos can be saved to the onboard memory card or downloaded to the phone via an app.
There is now ambient lighting feature added to the footwells of the flagship X-Terrain. Apart from offering convenience to occupants when entering or alighting the truck, the blue hue affords the vehicle with an added touch of class.
The X-Terrain, Premium and Auto Plus variants now receive an improved wireless charger that boasts a 15W output allowing for quicker recharging times. The former two variants also receive an additional USB-C port for rapid charging when required.
But I believe that this is the most important news for actually D-Max capability on and off-road. All the 4x4 variants now come with the added feature of an electronically-actuated rear differential lock. The Diff Lock offers better off-roading capability as it provides additional traction particularly over uneven terrain or highly slippery surfaces.
Other updates to the D-Max include a new remote keyless entry access and a 12V power socket for the Single Cab variant while the 3.0-litre Premium Automatic variant receives a revised suspension set-up that’s configured to handle heftier payloads, increasing from 580kg previously to 775kg, an improvement of 195kg making exceptionally suited to the requirements of users particularly in East Malaysia.
With these new updates, Isuzu Malaysia has made the D-Max an even better proposition for those looking for a pickup truck. The D-Max has always been a favourite for most pickup truck enthusiasts here and personally, I have to say that Isuzu has thrown its focus into keeping the D-Max competitive against its local competitors. Maybe as I've previously mentioned in this blog earlier, Isuzu can focus on making their pickup trucks better due to their specialisation in this category as well as for heavy duty commercial vehicles. They've decided to focus on what they know best and it does show in the D-Max.
The 2023 Isuzu D-Max range is available immediately at all authorized Isuzu showrooms. For more information on the impressive new Isuzu D-Max, visit pickuptruck.isuzu.net.my or https://www.facebook.com/ISUZU.DMax.Malaysia/.
