Operating a Scania Truck Could Be More Affordable Than You Think - Financing Deals for Scania Trucks for 2021

In conjunction with Scania celebrating 50 years (F50Y) in Malaysia, the truck and bus manufacturer has launched a special promotion which is valid for trucks ordered and delivered between January to December 2021. During this period, the proposition of owning a Scania truck can be as low as MYR6,888 to just over MYR11,118 per month on-the-road. The offer is valid for a Scania New Truck Generation truck meant for five different applications and you can eve get it with Scania Malaysia's in-house Financial services, subject to credit approval with the usual terms and conditions where applicable.

This is quite a new thing for us following the Malaysian truck scene as usually the truck companies have never actually stated how much a truck, or bus, will cost you. Everything is usually on demand as operators usually have to deal with the truck maker for the specifications of each individual truck and there is also coachbuilders involved with it too (like some rigid trucks). The packages also include either in-house financing as well as the service and maintenance package which will be different from operator to operator. So someone with a Scania G450 may cost RM450,000 where the other chap gets one for RM550,000 depending on the equipment and even the other aforementioned packages. Which is why they do not usually disclose the price in a press release.

But now, Scania Malaysia has actually officially informed us on how much it could cost you to operate a Scania NTG truck for a certain period. This could be a good thing as there could be many companies out there who are afraid to try certain brands (like most European ones) due to its complexity and  perceived costs. Much like how premium car makers sell their financing packages these days, we could be seeing some figures thrown around in press releases from now on.

Now on with the attractive financing, service and maintenance packages announced by Scania Malaysia.

You can actually get a Scania NTG truck for container haulage with an on-the-road price from MYR9,888 per month plus insurance and road tax with a Repair & Maintenance contract.  There are three packages specifically for general cargo, bulk transport and tanker haulage. These are 5 year packages comes with insurance and road tax including 5-year Maintenance services. These three haulage types are perfect for long-haul heavy load deliveries as most of the cost is put together.

For the Scania XT Tipper truck which is suitable for heavy duty construction or ground work projects, you could be operating the truck with an on-the-road from MYR11,118 per month plus insurance and road tax inclusive of 5-year Maintenance services.

The figures mentioned above are basically for financing of about RM450,000 and above. With interest the amount comes up to around RM10,000 to RM12,000 per month (or more) depending on the specification the operator wants.

And finally, for the Scania Rigid Boxed body truck, it can be had with an on-the-road from MYR6,888 per month plus insurance and road- tax  inclusive of 2-year Maintenance services. While the maintenance package is only for 2 years, the amount payable is also for a 5 year repayment period or financing for an amount of about RM180,000, which is the estimated price of a Scania Rigid Truck these days.

For those who qualify for Scania's in-house financing packages, Scania Credit could customise the hire-purchase to suit the customers’ affordability. A significant number of our existing customers who are realising good returns on their investment, would testify to this.

Scania trucks are recognised for their superior fuel economy, safety and reliability in many applications. They are also designed to give you efficient total cost of operation and increase your business profitability. With Scania Ecolution partnership, operators can also aim to reduce their CO2 emissionsto do their part for the environment.

“Scania is leading the shift towards a sustainable transport system with its total solutions subscriptions. All these have helped our customers in achieving their objective of maximising their profits while minimising their carbon footprint,” said Daniel Tan, Sales Director of Scania Southeast Asia.

Personally I do think that this is quite a good move as it will make those who aren't aware of the costs of operating a truck. It could actually help those who want to start operating their own transport or actually make known to those who feel that operating a Scania is expensive. Maybe with more awareness of these flexible hire purchase prices more would want to try something new. But do note that the figures mentioned here are only ballpark numbers to assist you as I have stated that the final sum will depend on the truck or trucks ordered itself. This is just to get the mind jogging to see whether it makes sense or not to operate a Scania.
