The Tokyo Motor Show 2015 is currently ongoing. Subaru has decided to preview the next-generation Impreza 5 Door Concept there. The concept has a "Dynamic & Solid design with a hexagonal grille and "hawk-eye headlights." The Impreza Hatchback (which is what this really is) concept measures 4,400mm long, 1,880mm wide and 1,440mm tall with a wheelbase that spans 2,670mm. Subaru has decided not to reveal any other details as yet. So we do not know what engine, drivetrain and performance specs so far.
But truth be told, it shouldn't be too far different from the current Impreza (and Subaru XV - which is essentially an Impreza Outback) when it comes to powertrains. So the main thing is the design cues. Subaru says that this new styling philosophy will be used on all future models.
But knowing Subaru, what looks super sculptured and super nice in Concept is seldom translated to a production Subaru - eg, the previous Impreza WRX Concepts and the Legacy Concept came out looking properly sober and nothing like the swoopy concept cars previewed. What you can try is imagine this 5 door Concept without all those sharp chiseled lines here and there (because more sculptured stuff equals to more sheetmetal stamping costs obviously - and this isn't a premium luxury car that Subaru is make here). And that Hawk-eye lights to be made larger too. This is what I think.
So as usual can it be safe to say that this isn't the Impreza that we'll be getting next?
