Pump Shell fuel this Hari Raya Puasa and help underprivileged children in Malaysia

This Hari Raya, every liter of fuel pumped at any Shell station in Malaysia on the 14th, 16th and 18th of July 2015, Shell will donate 1 Sen (RM0.01) to help change the lives of underprivileged children in Malaysia.

Contributions raised will benefit children under the care of five (5) selected charitable organisations. So do lend a helping hand. Nothing too strenuous or anything like that. Just head towards a Shell station, and fill in some petrol or diesel.

Shell fuels the futures of underprivileged children
this “balik kampung” season
The simple act of filling up your tank at a Shell station will go a
long way in making an impact on children’s futures

KUALA LUMPUR, 13 JULY 2015 This coming Raya, Shell wishes to make the “balik kampung” journey more meaningful for Malaysians. On the 14th, 16th and 18th of July, for every litre of fuel pumped at any Shell station nationwide, the company will donate 1 cent (RM0.01) to inspire, empower and transform the lives of underprivileged children in Malaysia.

At the heart of this campaign are underprivileged children whom Shell is looking to empower with knowledge and skills to help them grow into independent, self-sufficient and well-rounded adults.

Tuan Haji Azman Ismail, Managing Director of Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn. Bhd. and Shell Timur Sdn. Bhd, shares the inspiration behind the campaign: “At Shell we make it our mission to make a positive impact to the wellbeing of our local communities. This season, the best gift we can give to the underprivileged children is the gift of a meaningful future. The reality is, to many of them, dreams such as finishing school, getting a job, or using their talents are out of reach given their current circumstances. Through this campaign, we hope to create a platform for Malaysians to inspire them to believe in life’s possibilities because they are not alone and there are a lot of people who care about them.”

With the support of customers, Shell aims to raise a minimum of RM500,000 through this campaign, which will then be distributed to five (5) selected charitable organisations. The money will be used to support development programmes that will encourage children to learn new skills and develop their fullest potential.

Contributions raised will benefit children under the care of: The Budimas Charitable Foundation, The Nasi Lemak Project, Yayasan Chow Kit, Persatuan Kebajikan Pendidikan Kanak-Kanak Miskin (Sabah) and Yayasan Kemajuan Insan Sarawak.

In addition to this, Shell, along with its selected charitable organisations, is developing a long-term programme which will allow Shell staff, their families, retailers and business partners to actively participate in the initiatives.

“We believe that every contribution, when joined with the rest of the community, will make a real difference in the lives of these children. We hope that the simple act of filling up your tank will make your travel home more meaningful and also inspire you to share this charity drive with your family and friends,” added Tuan Haji Azman.

In the spirit of sharing this festive season, Shell is also encouraging the public to participate in a fun, light-hearted online challenge to help raise awareness about Shell’s three-day charity campaign. Simply known as #pump141618, popular bloggers and personalities have started the challenge of “pumping” or doing push-ups for underprivileged children in Malaysia and in turn, are tagging their friends and loved ones to take on the challenge. This charity campaign is also supported by FlyFM, OneFM and HotFM.
